Or at least she tried to. Kai usually appreciated that smile? "I am still new here, and while I know some people, I don't know a whole lot of people. Could you perhaps give some pointers who is who? Especially any other newcomers like me, who arrived in the last few days?"
Syzygy Anion wrote:Zygy helped herself to whatever drink was available as she continued to walk around. It was a very interesting gathering, at the least.

"But there really isn't any one else you should really be concerned with," said the left. "You've already met Madame Vida, of course," said the right. "Then there's the boss, Rullarc Mulgin. You know who he is, right?" said the left.

Honorordeath wrote:"Not a chance," the sprightly Mirialan said cheekily, laughing a bit as she handed off the man's coat to another as they passed by. Slipping back around she brought her hand along his shoulder, caressing it as she moved to the front. "What kind of entertainment are you looking for tonight, I wonder? We have drinks, music, dancing," she gasped as if she was overwhelmed by all the potential fun. "There is the pool too, live music, usually pretty good too."

"Only so long as I want to be occupied, of course," he said with a devilish grin. Looking to the man that approached, the guard that Yara had given the bribe to and Rullarc opened a palm. Without a word the man offered the credits into Rullarc's waiting hand which he then turned and, with a quick beckon for her to open her hand, placed them back into Yara's waiting grasp. "Consider it the gift of the house tonight, Dr. Suhr."

Pocketing the chits again, she tries to conceal some embarrassment about her small act of bribery being so obviously noticed--generally, in her experience, a sign that one hadn't done a very good job of it.
"Your party has certainly attracted quite a diverse crowd, Mr. Mulgin. Though I'm sure there are others who might have chosen to come if the location were a little less um." She abandons that thought without finishing it. Just think of it like an administration cocktail party. Pretend he's a Vice-Chancellor or something. "People seem to be enjoying themselves."

Kor nodded "Well a drink is probably first on the list, the pool will likely wait until later though it is interesting." He looked the mirilan in the eye for a moment, his hard and cold grey like slate "and what do they call you?"

"Always." she smiled. "Is that what we're all here for, company?"

"Oh? Could've fooled me..." She eyed the movement, and stepped in between the two, slowly walking, separating the pair a bit. "Ah... not as much as I should." She smiled awkwardly. "I usually just fly the ship."

"People are enjoying themselves," he affirmed with confidence. Rullarc's voice was a bit nasally but had an undeniable inner charm to the way it sounded. Turning so he might offer his arm to the lady and escort her more fully among the partygoers. "It is a wonder, why people choose not to come. I find, personally, that it is because they do not understand the way things are here. That is part of my hope tonight. That, however, relies in the perception of my guests. So I would like to ask you a question Dr. Suhr. What is it you think of this place, the establishment we find ourselves in and Providencetown the town like no other?"
Honorordeath wrote:"Some love, some," she says with a toothless smile. "Some come for the excitement. Some just come for pleasure. Others come to be seen. Some come to see. The best just come here for the company, those ones I enjoy spending my time with. Would you like to spend your time with me?"
Yara Suhr wrote:"Providencetown... it's the most architecturally compelling town I've ever seen, without question." Yara lets her hand settle lightly on Mulgin's arm. "In other respects, not so different from other towns. The residential stratification, for example--like a little Coruscant in miniature, or thousands of other places on thousands of worlds where the wealthy live high above and the rest struggle to get by."
Her lips quirk wryly, small lines framing the corners of her mouth for a few moments. "And this establishment? In its usual line, not my choice of recreation." Nor anybody's who has a professional knowledge of infectious-disease containment protocols, she thinks, but decides not to say. "I can't deny the appeal of a good party, though."
Syzygy Anion wrote:"If that's what you'd like, but I am curious as to what else is happening here." she responded. "What can you tell me about the host of this gathering?"
Syzygy Anion wrote:"Everything." she answered. "But primarily, why is he hosting this gathering?"

"Aubade," she said with an amused grin, "I know, I know. What kinda girl goes around claiming a name like that, right? But it's just a sweet kinda music, morning? Love? That's my kind of music. I play some for myself every morning when I get ready for the day," she slipped her hand down into his, pulling him forward and into the place more fully. "How long you been on Noventa?"
