Knockin' On Your Door [Day 2, Early Night]

Temra stepped over to the Captain and lowered his eyes and his voice.

"He's in the best hands on the planet, Ma'am. If anyone can save him it's Doctor Suhr."

After fetching Yara, Raine made her way back down to the first floor to at least watch over the front area. These people were just in a gunfight, after all. Someone could have followed them to the clinic.

So at the front desk, the former Rebel stands tall, still in her normal security gear: armored chest plate, blaster holstered to her right leg, and a utility belt with an assortment of pouches around her waist. Underneath the armor, she wore a tight-fitting black shirt with short sleeves.

Raine does thank her mistake of falling asleep when she was at the end of her shift. If she hadn’t been in her office, precious moments could have been wasted.

[Because timing is now important for the conversation as it continues, I am going to ask everyone to roll initiative. Cool Checks.]

Yara wasn't finding what she needed, the blast bolt had wrecked havoc on the mans insides and it wasn't shaping up to be pretty. Yara Suhr quickly realized just how much blood he was losing and just how quickly his situation was deteriorating. There just wasn't enough time to find what she needed to save his life. Within mere moments, if there was nothing she could do to stop this wound from bleeding out immediately, the man would die.

Outside, Raine found herself walking in on the two of the others speaking. Just by the door the one she had answered the door to was looking down while the other, larger and bulkier one was saying something that ended like, ".. now you just have to trust me," his voice was deep and booming, "Boss will make it out of this just fine. Alright?"

Dammit, if they'd got him here sooner... if I had a 2-1B droid and a full trauma suite... Yara blinks sweat out of her eyes, finding and clamping blood vessels as fast as she can, but struggling to get ahead of the mess.

Temra wasn't a doctor, but even he could see the patient starting to slip away. If he didn't make it, he wasn't sure exactly how well the rest of his motley squad would take it. Instinctively he prepared for the worst.

Raine leans against the front desk as she glanced towards the two men. It wasn’t gonna do anyone any good if they just stood around there panicking. “We have plenty of seats in the waiting area. You fellas have been through a lot tonight, might be best to rest your feet while you wait.”

Cap saw the desperation in the Doc's eyes, stepping forward she knew the answer before she even choked up the response, trying to hold herself together.

"Is.. is he going to make it?" she asked, her voice cracked.

[Triumph Manuever]

Tix shot around when Raine came up around to the front desk, "H-huh?" he stammered a bit, forced his hands down into the waist of his pants. "Y-yea, that sounds like a good idea... hey, uh, you.. you think he's gonna make it? You know, the Boss?" he asked, his face a mess of sweat and grime.

[Tix takes a Turn.]

Flicking the smoke out into the street the hulking man wandered back inside, the rifle slung loosely on his shoulder dangling there and clicking against the door frame as he entered. "I'm gonna go through to see how he is," he said, that deep voice sending chills down Raine's spine. Cold, his voice held the quality of someone comfortable with fighting, death. "You alright with that, miss?"

[Korvax takes a turn.]

"Damn," Yara says clearly through her mask. "I can't--I'm losing him. There's one thing that might... we need the cerebral stabilizer. Temra--upper right cabinet--please--" She gestures urgently with one gloved hand, shiny-wet with blood.

A grisly-looking device only used once or twice since the crew took over the clinic, the stabilizer looks for all the world like a torture device, and it doesn't always work. But if it does, it would keep the injured man's life from slipping away.

Temra hustles to retrieve the apparatus for Yara, hoping beyond hope that the patient doesn't die on the table. Both for the patient's own sake as well as the reputation and well being of the Centre and its personnel.

Yara strips off her bloody gloves, dropping them to the already-gory floor. The cerebral stabilizer is a fiddly device and if there's no time to change gloves--which there isn't--she'd rather handle it with bare hands than slippery wet plastic film. She takes the thing from Temra with a grateful nod, strips the seals off the contacts with a few practiced flicks, and settles the ugly-looking cage over the dying man's head.

As the mechanisms engage, the stabilizer hums and the man's body jerks on the table before going still again. It might look alarming, but the green lights flickering to life on the monitor panel tell another story: neural functions are being supported, buying more time for Yara to finish stemming the internal hemorrhages and restart his heart.

--
Maneuver, take off gloves.
Action, attach the thingy.

Raine looked away from the man for a moment, towards the door she saw the others go through, “Well, it’s kind of against proceedure to do somethin’ like that. The doc’s hard at work in there.” She crosses her arms as she looks back up at him. “Unless you’re thinkin’ you got the medical skills to help out in there, it might do more harm than good to distract the doc.”

"W-what in the worlds is that thing?" the woman said as she inched forward, watching as Yara and Temra worked. Shifting her weight in how she stood.

[Cap Action, End of Round.]
[We can discuss options on the Triumph, I am currently unsure! But perhaps leaving it so that he can be stable enough to move should it become necessary?]

New Round:

"I just want to take a peak. See how the boss is doing. I won't interrupt your doc friend while she is working. I can promise you that," Korvax said as he stopped mid gait to look back to the woman. Waiting for the permission he sought. His body was still as he waited for her immediate response.

[Korvax Action]

Meanwhile, Tix takes a nervous look out the door and fiddles with his belt a little. Shifting the holster against his leg.

[Tix Action]

"Cerebral stabilizer," Yara says crisply from behind her mask. "Blood pressure was dropping too fast. This keeps your man's brain and spinal tissue oxygenated while I get on with it." Even as she speaks, she snaps on a fresh pair of gloves and goes back to work. "I can't repair everything at once, it would be more additional trauma than he can take. He'll need a period of rehabilitation, probably some follow-up treatment."

At least, for now, she can get all the leaks stopped and the circulatory system back on-line without worrying about her patient suffering permanent brain damage.

((Maneuver, action, etc: glove up, continue surgery-ing because logically speaking surely she's at least got to close him back up again. In theory, if he has other crits besides Bleeding Out I could roll checks for those--just can't roll for Bleeding Out again right away.

If you're still thinking about the Triumph--stabilizing him is OK, though it kinda sounds like the device itself does that... otherwise, could we possibly use it narratively, to get some useful insight about the patient and/or what happened to bring him here?))

[That sounds fitting, from what you can tell this man is a fighter. This bolt hit him from the front and at a face angle, meaning that he was likely facing the target with the full front of his body when he was struck. Those with any combat experience would understand this is a very unlikely stance for him to have had if it was a wound sustained in combat. Beyond that, there are countless others scars and he's overall a bit of a mess. This man has seen far more combat than the average person would believe possible.]

[That should hopefully suffice?]

Seeing the patient now stabilized, Temra lets out an audible sigh of relief before he looks over at Cap.

"You understand that he might need to stay her for an extended duration right? And that we're not set up with suitable accommodations for long term visitors? If you'd like to discuss visiting protocols and future access to your friend perhaps we can take care of that in the waiting room?"

"I'll walk you there, then. Just a peak, not a sound." Raine lets out a sigh as she pushes herself away from the front desk. "Come with me, I'll lead you to the room."

Cap just sighed a sigh of relief, taking a step back she leaned up against a counter and looked toward the ceiling. Letting her hair fall down behind her and really let the moment settle in. Feeling the grime that covered her body, finally that she was able to relax enough to take the breath and take account of all that she experienced. When Temra spoke up she glanced to him and went to speak-

[Cap Action, End of Round 2]

"Lead the way," said the hulking man that was Korvax. Stepping in line behind Raine the two walked till they got to the room. Upon reaching the door the man grinned, poked his head in and then nodded. Glancing back to the woman who was Raine, "Head on in there for me? Ask them how he's doing."

[Korvax turn.]

"We don't really have that kind of time. There some way we can get him ready for transport tonight? Trouble is following and we'd rather avoid bringing that heat down on you," Cap said, lowering her shoulders and her guard.

[Cap Turn]

Raine takes in a breath, totally expecting to get chewed out as she slowly opens the door and slips into the patient room. She glances over towards the woman that was not part of the Clinic staff, but then shifts her gaze towards Yara. “How’s he doing?”

"Stable, but still serious." Yara barely glances back over her shoulder at the sound of Raine's voice. "So, one Rebel to another," she flicks an eyebrow at the anxious 'Cap.' "Don't tell me anything I shouldn't know, but does getting away from this 'trouble' involve a steady form of transit and a medical expert on the other end?"

Her microsuture tool clicks a few more times as she repairs another artery.
