"One of. Maybe this dimension, us, is how they breed." He mused, his gaze perking up. "I think there is sufficient evidence that Force-sensitivity can be hereditary. It is your case, isn't it? Ergo, medicholrians prolong themselves by interfering in our reproductive processes, either by inserting themselves in the genome or being sexually transmitted."

[Runi Vizsla]

"I think if it's sexually transmitted, then they must have difficulty passing certain cell barriers, or inserting themselves into an adult host. Perhaps they cling to gametes so they can proliferate during development," she offered. "Since, if they are sexually transmitted, they don't appear to infuse hosts that are exposed after development."

[Sharn]

"I think it is a very good hypothesis." Something brightened in his face, the usual mask of haughty condescension was fraying and dissipating, revealing explorative enthusiasm underneath. "As they seem to be developing into mitochondrial analogues, it is plausible that they can affect the meiotic makeup only during gestation. It may allude to a broader connection between the Force and organic life in our spacetime. Kybers have organic pyrogenesis too, most easily asserted with krayts, though my prime experience was with Jedhan material." His red eyes glinted. "It may be that the Force needs both sentience and meiosis to perpetuate itself. For mostly through sentient agency it can manage energy composition and flows on a universal scale. Which in turn brings us to the question of quantum energy transactions within multiverse. And thus the question of balance in the Force." He lifted himself from his seat, almost pushing the mug off the table. He was too excited to sit. "Lord Vader might have been so hell-bent on either controlling or slaying Force-sensitive individuals in order to close the floodgates and to increase flow momentum for himself. It would have been a folly if he hadn't assumed that the capacity is genetically or sexually transmitted amid organic sentients or he would have had no hope of succeeding. What we narrowly avoided might have been a monopolising siphoning." He connected with her gaze intensely. "If it is so, it has profound consequences for you and me."

[Runi Vizsla]

"I think it's more likely that the medichlorians themselves require, or at least tend to select for such things in a host. Since nonsapients tend to lack the awareness to notice and develop the abilities we associate with the Force, it's hard to say how prevalent they are among them," she replied, trying to think through the theory. "The Force I would define more as the push and pull of quantum forces that the presence of these things allow access to. It exists in that sense with or without those. I suspect, with what we're going on with this theory, that they may use the extra energy exchange as a way to generate energy for them to work with."

Vader... Her lips thinned slightly at his mention. "If it was that, it was likely unconscious. He viewed it from a very religious perspective."

[Sharn]

"That would conflict with the law of conservation of energy. More likely, they have an excess in their dimension and they funnel it into our spacetime to preserve matter in theirs. The issue of balance in the Force may not be between Light and Dark, but between our dimensions and theirs." He paused. "If they are sentient and dependent on us for sustaining themselves, their survival strategies would lean toward spacefaring species as any planet-locked ones are to susceptible to extinction-level events over the longue duree. And that presupposes void creatures like purrgil, or those who build starships with hyperdrives."

He pouted thoughtfully, leaning with his back against a cupboard. "Sith, Jedi, they are all religious fanatics who have invented restrictive behavioural codes that kept obfuscating the very nature of the Force phenomenon, distorting its natural dispersal. I don't know if they ever wondered to what purpose the little symbionts endow them with superhuman power to shape reality through energy projection. But now that both orders are gone, maybe it's time to toss off the dark ages and embrace the science of the Force. Your thought of a lightsabre is a cultural imperative. You could build a powerful gun with a kyber, or any other imaginable weapon, but the lure or religious dogma is hard to deny."

[Runi Vizsla]

"There may be phase changes involved that we haven't managed to get a solid enough understanding to be aware of," she noted. "Nor to we know enough about the structure of them to be able to say What exactly is used for energy. Still, what's your theory on it?"

"As to the lightsaber... it's the weapon my training can best take advantage of. Sure, I could make a kyber blaster, but that would make me less of a terrible shot."

[Sharn]

"I have two ideas, but require discerning which sub-particles are activated via quantum-entanglement once their pairs are excited via a kyber-powered laser. One is that what we know as hypernergy, and hypermatter for the record, is basically the subversive excess of energy that has been pumped into our spacetime, and it competes with four fundamental forces: electromagnetism, gravity, and two nuclear forces. Tachyon fields that allow hyperspace travel are their areas of mutual incongruence. Then a Force-user would be a localised tachyon field, allowing for otherwise incomprehensible phenomena like electricity from hands or... choking at a distance."

He took a deep breath.

"The other... it would uproot physics as we know it. It may be that our spacetime began precisely because the Force had been siphoned in, and all other forces are only its localised manifestations. That we're their experiment or colony, or a vent. Or a playground. And we have always been."

[Runi Vizsla]

She had to take a breath at the memory of choking at a distance, closing her eyes against the moment. "Y-yeah. Either one is interesting."

[Sharn]

He frowned. "All is as the Force wills it. You must have heard this sentence. What if their presence is not just empowerment, but also steering? I...honestly can't tell why I ended up on this planet rather than the next one."

[Runi Vizsla]

She wiped her eyes a little and nodded, swallowing the emotion. "That would explain the whole concept of "Destiny" in the Force - if it was, in fact, simply explained by these things steering things as they will."

[Sharn]

He took note of her sudden emotionality, but didn't understand it, so just looked at her for a moment... and got her a tissue without a word.

"This is a disconcerting possibility. I'd prefer to own my drives and desires, and not confuse them with something imposed by this possible 'destinating.'"

[Runi Vizsla]

She accept it, blew her nose and just held it for a few moments. "Well, it's just one more thing to add to the pile of circumstantial influences that affect our lives."

[Sharn]

"What does it make you feel so constrained by outside influence?" He flopped on a seat by her, leaning over the table for his mug.

[Runi Vizsla]

"I don't know... But lots of things influence us. Even the weather - you might choose to wait to go out because it's raining, and because of that, you encounter one situation and not another," she explains.

[Sharn]

"Ah, so it was an abstract remark, not personal. And here I thought you were about to reciprocate my openness." He shrugged, looking at the table before him, then rising back from the place near her. "There are ways to neutralise inclement weather, as any other physical phenomenon. It is what engineering is for."

[Runi Vizsla]

She looked slightly annoyed. "I wasn't not being open."

[Sharn]

He swallowed the snap retort, and sat back down. After a pause, he pressed his lips together.

"Indeed. You weren't."

[Runi Vizsla]

"If you want me to answer it as a personal question, I can," she offered.

[Sharn]

"I know you can. You know I want it. All it takes is an act of will that I'd rather not impose on you as it is lessened if it does not come from you. Feelings are algorithms and I abhor skewed equations."

[Runi Vizsla]

"You want it, huh?" She teased with a chuckle. "In my case... My family, mostly. I feel like I have a responsibility to them. And my Clan. Nothing too mysterious, I think, but... yeah."
