We ran ourselves into ruin [D2, LM]

Built milennia ago, they have been a mystery for ages, and with the nearby volcano, exploration has been slow.

Difficulty for Quinn and Kor: 2#3eD 3 failures 1 failure, 2 threat

Quinn, you don't see anything overlooked, though with the advantages, you do see that the dust has not settled, meaning that whatever was taken was grabbed recently.

Kor, you are able to confirm that there is nothing remaining, though doing so, you jam your hand against a sharp edge of stone (1 strain).

"No! There has to be... who could've..."

Quinn was visibly frustrated with the lack of anything of substance.

Kor looked at Quinn "alright enough playing around, what are you looking for in here?" His tone brokered little argument he'd thought this whole thing was strange from the beginning but didn't ask too many questions. Now that Quinn was showing the cracks he knew this went deeper than he had suspected "out with it Quinn."

She looked back at him, seeming almost surprised that he was there for a moment. Then she looked away, expression almost like she was deciding whether to stay and tell, or run away.

"Crystals," she said, after an uncomfortable period of silence. "Force crystals. Or something that can lead me to them."

His eyes narrowed at her a bit "you're force sensitive?" His voice didn't carry any outstanding amount of emotion. It was slightly confused and a little surprised but other than that he simply stood there and waited for an answer.

"You know about that stuff?"

She seemed a little skeptical. Or suspicious. Or both.

Kor shrugged "I'm no expert but I've heard about it. I used to work for the Empire, one of the things they did was hunt down force sensitives." Kor had never fought a force sensitive but he did once assist an inquisitor in tracking a lead. Kor wasn't knowledgeable on the subject but he knew of its existance.

"Hey I did what I did but now I'm here helping you. My past is my past, we're talking about the present." He paused letting her process for a moment "so what are you going to use this crystal for? One of those light swords or shine sabers or whatever they're called?" Like he saud, he was no expert.

She didn't like this. She liked it better when she was keeping her secrets actually secret. Not only did that seem more safe, but it also made it feel like she was someone else. Which was a nice feeling. Still, she obviously couldn't justify not telling him. It was just a matter of forcing the words out.

"Because... because I had a vision. Of someone coming for me. Someone really dangerous. The force told me to prepare. I need a weapon for that."

Kor looked at Quinn for a long moment not speaking, eventually he broke the silence "you know if anyone wants to get to you they have to come through me first."

He leaned his ax against the cave wall and squatted down so he was almost eye level with her "I know we won't be together forever but until I have a real reason not to, I have your back."

"Thanks."

She really did appreciate the gesture.

"But I'm still going to need that weapon. My stick isn't going to cut it."

Kor nodded and stood up lo okong about and stretching his head. "How do you know a place like Noventa will even have one of these crystal things? They are pretty rare from what I remember." Part of working with that inquisitor had him briefed on some classified information including the knowledge of the planet where most of those crystals came from. Noventa didn't seem like the place that would house such a wonderous item.

"I don't..." she said, uncertain.

"I just... don't have anywhere else to look."

He looked down at the girl, no the young woman in front of him and placed a hand on her shoulder. "If it's here, we'll find it." There was a pause "but we might have to let some of the others in on this Cal knows a lot of people and they might be able to help us find what you are looking for. It will just require that we trust these people."

"Haven't you people taken enough." A feminine voice called out, pale eyes narrowing as she looked to the two standing at the dais. In her hands, an odd weapon, drawn back. At first glance, it would look like some kind of bow and arrow, though the crackling energy from the bolt certainly showed it was something else.

"I don't... know... maybe..."

And then she was interrupted.

Crap! I didn't even sense her...

She turned around, putting her hands up in the air.

"I didn't steal anything! From here anyway..."

Kor looked at the female holding the weapon and interposed his body between her and Quinn, adopting a defensive stance in front of the smaller girl "we have stolen nothing, this place was empty when we got here. Your problem is not with us, we are just exploring." Which was technically true since there was nothing here to take.
