[D9 - LM] - Rituals of Damnation

A magnificent mountain range that extends to the north from Noventa City, passing the Duskeen Forest to the west and up to the northern pole of Noventa.

The conjured creature howled back as the blast impacted with it's fist, glowing eyes narrowing as a result. While a solid hit, it's thick hide seemed to absorb much of the blow.

"Come on, come on! I know it has to be here somewhere!"

As the action started, Kaneesa elected to employ the patented "tuck and roll" maneuver. He was worthless in the fight like this, and the others seemed to be doing their thing.

Kaneesa was not a fighter. Kaneesa was a con man and a thief.

So let's steal a ritual.

"He had to have chosen this for a reason. Otherwise, he would have done it anywhere. C'mon, c'mon, c'mon"

Kaneesa seems to stare a bit...and something occurs to him.

"Hey guys...am I seeing things, or are there glowy spots on those conjured things? Maybe...hit those?"

The Triumph is used to give a free upgrade to attack rolls against the Trollbanes, both current and any future summoned ones.

for transparency sake:

Concussive is an active quality. needed 2 advantage. I had a brain fart and made it passive in my reading of it. Jelna is not staggered 1.

So is this one of those things where you disbelieve it and then it goes away? Her theory was soon disproven by the punch to the jaw she received. She stumbled over to the nearest rune or whatever the heck it was and started waving her hands menacingly at it...

How does this sound. Because this is a battle of wills, it essentially triggers the Alter Force power. For a number of rounds equal to number of failures, the area around Nygmus, out to medium range, becomes difficult terrain. It requires an athletics or coordination check at average difficulty to maneuver towards him from medium range to engaged. If you fail the check, you don't move forward

She hadn't ever seen that application of the force; but Quinn got a real close look at it as the lightning arced around her. Pushed off her feet by the force, narrowly managing to avoid being fried, she found herself briefly on her back before she flipped herself back onto her feet. Things weren't looking so hot. He could wield lightning! And one of the people around her got hit by one of those creatures! Deciding that Temra looked like he could handle himself, Quinn rushed toward the trollbane that had just hit Jelna...

...and brought her lightsaber down onto it, taking advantage of an opening created by the woman.

Trollbane 1 is Engaged with Cefey, Jelna, and Quinn

Trollbane 2 is Engaged with Temra

Trollbane 3 is at Medium Range from the Group

Nygmus is at Long Range

The Seneschal is impressed by the tenacity with how the group found themselves trying to interfere with the ritual. Not that he would allow them to stop him, but this was a testament to the amount of talent he had encountered.

Conducting the battle, two of the creatures continued their assaults to keep the interlopers back. The one that was now facing off against Jelna, Quinn, and Cefey turned on the saber wielder, bringing a stony fist against her, hard (11 damage, strain track, before Soak/Parry).

The one facing off against the Iktotchi swung it's mighty fists, swinging on the Armorer. The brunt of the damage was blocked by the armor, but it could not take all of it (11 damage, strain track, before Soak)

And then, he saw the Gungan. Trying to study, to inform the others. His fingers outstretched again, Unleashing his raw power. Despite the weather, dark side energy arced into the Gungan from an impressive distance. (10 damage before Soak)

You all have 1 threat to play with.

2 strain maneuver - command trollbane 2

Quinn's training of the lightsaber forms her master taught her was paying off. The creature's powerful swing was lessened considerably
by her quick footwork; the angle of her blade as well as the sturdiness of her new arm helping to further cushion the blow. She then followed up with a swing and a thrust, hitting the creature where it (hopefully) hurt.

Her weapon had been mostly useless against the thing, and she wasn't sure if she could fire safely without hitting Quinn. While they needed to focus on the Lord of Darkness over there, they needed to easen up the pressure here first.

She had never done this before, but... if she was able to push people's minds slightly to emotions, surely she could do more with such power? In desperation, Fey reached out with her hand as her senses also reached out towards the beast that battled against Quinn. The one that had hurt Jelna. She felt a resistance at first, but the primitive mind of the creature proved weaker than the mind of the twi'lek who wanted to remove the threat to her friends. It was a completely new sensation, to feel like some sort of blade pressing into its gray matter...

Jelna took the opportunity to move away from the weird Force energy being thing and fired her gun at the "master of doom and gloom" over there. It was a pretty hard shot to make, and there was so much going on with the lightning and the earthquakes.

Reaction to Cefey straining out Trollbane 1:

Nygmus cackled in delight. "Only through my gifts, through your fear and anger, could you fell the beast, my child!" His laugh a dark roar in the battle.

Reaction to shooting Nygmus.

The blaster fire went wide from him, weather the rain or fear making your hands shake. Squeezing the trigger, the unholy hiss of the energy back being spent was heard.

For the Despair: the pistol runs out of ammo. Cannot be used the rest of the encounter unless Jelna has an extra battery pack.

Temra growled as he was hit, but he bore the blow stoically, swinging back in a futile attempt to defeat the monster.

"Don't worry about me. We need to stop this ritual." He yelled as he waded into combat, positioning himself directly between the trolls and Jelna, trying to ease her mind of the concern of immediate violence.

Kaneesa finds himself rocked with Force Lightning.

"Gaaaaaaah!" The Gugan lets out a cry of agony. But maybe it was an actual lightning bolt of inspiration, because Kaneesa suddenly seemed to understand the ritual. Looking back, the Gungan could see the fight still brewing, and decided to make caution the better part of valor, diving to the ground behind a recently upturned set up earth.

Nygmus ceased his cackling, feeling the raw, untamed power of the Dark Side coming through the ritual. The eyes of the third trollbane glowed, as it ran straight for the twi'lek woman. "Give in to your feelings! Only through your rage and hatred can you hope to survive this power!" He taunted, as the other Trollbane continued it's dance with Temra.

The Trollbane swings at Cefey, a solid hit connecting with her despite the rain (10 damage before soak.)

Temra's staunch defenses continue to hold (Miss)

Feeding in to his Overconfidence, he leapt with the Force, a raw display of power as he landed before Quinn, broadsaber flourishing before her. "Do you know how to use that, girl?" His grin showed cruel intent.

She was a little surprised by the fact he was suddenly up in her face; and a little afraid; but she didn't show it. She had trained for this sort of thing for... well, months. And she was good at it, damn it!

Do you know how to use that, girl? Hah.

"It must be scary," she quipped back, "seeing one that doesn't require a giant battery strapped to your back."

Quinn launched into a series of focused attacks, her Makashi form was made for these kind of lightsaber duels, and while she was no master with it, she was talented enough to keep up with him... and push just barely past his defenses; likely cutting a nasty scar right across his side, a quick flourish followed, not doing much damage but likely leaving him out of breath. At which point she jumped back a little, putting some distance between them.

Even as he parries away most of the blow, a cut gets through, making his eyes go wide. Looking down at the blow, feeling the difficulty to breathe, for the first time, Nygmus shows any hint if emotion.
