As they approached, under the concentrated fire of both Cal Arcton and Kai Wryssald, four of the five members of the group that was coming up the center fell to the dirt. Being left behind by the man at the lead. Two other groups went further north around the town, out of the main engagement and another three shot to the south. Each of them appeared to be lead by someone with experience. At the center, the three groups were led by one man now rushing up behind his fellow. Joining them in the rush toward the town, toward cover.

Meanwhile, watching as the peons did their work the Chiss Mercenary set up his Blaster Rifle on a rock. Taking cover from the fire, he wasn't a man that was going to risk himself needlessly. Still, those gunmen needed to be taken care of. That was something he endeavored to deal with from a distance. Firing off a volley of blaster bolts at Cal Arcton.

It was an accurate flurry of blaster bolts, had Cal not been behind cover. Perhaps the Chiss thought that the low wall would have been flimsy enough to break under the concentration of his fire. Perhaps, but if that were the case he learned quickly otherwise when Cal only felt the heat of the bolts searing into the wall on the other side. Hearing them roar as they flew overhead.

Chiwu gave a nod to Cal and rushed off elsewhere, ducking away from cover with the intent to organize and warn the other people up in other positions around town.

Dusk billows through the town, the march of feet kicks it up as the attackers rush into position all around them. First Blast bolts of the evening have flown through the air and signaled the beginning of the conflict. Scorch marks dug deep and left the first traces of a hard fought battle.

There were just a few things left to learn... one such question was: Who would win the day?

Meanwhile... elsewhere.

Moving for a better shot, Fey fired both blasters at the one left standing after the barrage from Kai and Cal, which provided some openings for the others.

That damn Twi'lek, was she always trying to get herself shot? Weren't they supposed to stick to cover? That meant Kai couldn't stay behind though, stepping out of cover he shortened the distance to the troops as he closed distance with Cefey. He wouldn't be able to reach her to do any good, but at the very least he could try and cause some problems for those that were here. Slipping a grenade off his bandolier as he walked he pressed the switch and tossed it at one of the group of men that were closing in. Hoping to take out at least a few of them.

Kor's axe made a horrific mess of the third and final group approaching the building, yet there were others encircling the town yet they might consider. Firefights yet rung out on the two other fronts of the town that kept them from entering.

Seeing the big hulk of a man charge, the Captain quickly turned his gun on... the Twi'lek woman. This was a lost cause, that much he was certain of. They'd been tricked and their lady would certainly hear of this but that meant he needed some room. Thus he fired at the blue Twi'lek who had exposed herself. Surely that would be enough cover. Turning into a firing position he let out a quick volley of blaster bolts.

Blaster bolts flying from his Riot gun made contact in a painful display.

Captain: Short Range, Cefey: 2eP+2eD+1eS 1 success

[Captain deals 8 Damage to Cefey before Soak.]

Then he takes off, moving at speed back toward the transports. Suffering for his emergency.

[Quinn loses whichever arm is *not* her dominant. As this is gunfire it's not taken off, exactly, but will be rendered useless and forced to be removed during surgery later on.]

Seeing the opportunity, how the men that were given to him were slaughtered in their approach he turned his attention to the target he could spot from before. Someone was still hiding...

"Come out, come out, wherever you are..." he said, gaining a sinister grin as he singled out his chosen target. They wouldn't get a chance to surprise him later. That was for sure. Firing off a volley of blaster bolts that peppered the area with hot plasma. Searing the flesh of the young girl yet still in hiding. Damaging her horrifically.

Quinn screamed in pain at the unexpected blow to her arm. Rather than run or cower as she might've done in the past though, she spurred into action. Leaping out of cover she took off into a sprint; toward the direction of the Chiss who shot at her. As she neared him, she started yelling at the blue alien, trying to make it appear as if she was running *away* from her own people. She was quite convincing.

"No! Stop shooting! They've got thermal detonators! You'll blow us all up! They're crazy! Help me!"

With the battle having quickly turned against the attacking forces the dust settled over corpses of the security guards turned private military. Standing amidst burning and blood soaked sand Korvalus held his battle-axe. Wielding the fearsome blade he made quick work of a small grouping of minions. Like the others had with their blaster fire. Quinn running frantically through the open grabbed the passive attention of some, perhaps the blood loss had driven her mad to abandon them there. Perhaps, if there were truly Thermal Detonators, this grouping of defenders were absolutely mad.

The sound of Quinn's scream sent a surge of anger shooting through Cal, his face twisting. It was eased, somewhat, a moment later, when he heard her lie. He also noticed that the chiss who'd shot her had leaned far enough out from his cover that the shot on him was clearer.

Cal dashed forward, duster flapping behind him, firing as he went. Even firing from the hip, his shots were accurate, striking the exposed mercenary.

Fey cursed from the blast she took, managing to twist away so the armored duster reduced the brunt of it. And hearing Quinn cry in pain, the twi'lek was positively angry.

Dropping one of her guns, she quickly stimmed herself to numb the pain, and aimed at the man responsible for shooting her. Anger gave her the will to pull the trigger... but nothing happened.

"Oh, blue and purple hells!" Seeing Quinn take a bad hit, Yara spits a curse from the old household gods of her childhood, the ones nobody had truly believed in anymore. Not the child...

Abandoning her cover, she keeps low as she jogs toward Quinn. "Hold still, just a moment, please--can't have you bleeding out on us." She drops her blaster heedlessly in the dust to tend to the girl's injury--just a very quick-and-dirty application of a coagulant patch right now, since this is no time for field surgery.

Fortunately, it's not the first time she's done first aid in the middle of a firefight. Super effective!

Quinn stopped only ever so briefly to let the doctor do her work; but was far too focused on the dangerous enemy in front of her. Then she started sprinting toward him again...

...and ignited her lightsaber.

It was the first time anyone had seen it beside herself. The distinct hum washed over the battlefield, coupled with the brilliant blue-white glow of the blade. A symbol of a different age; brought down on the present with clarity of purpose. Quinn's bladework was absolutely on point despite the numbness of her left arm. She was not someone who had just picked up this kind of weapon for the first time. She was not prone to flailing wildly with the blade. She was a practicioner of Form II; the The Way of the Ysalamiri. The Contention Form. Makashi. These were not the ideal circumstances to deploy this style of fighting, but that did not matter. The blade still did as she intended. With grace and focus. Efficient movements, perfect footwork, the style of a duelist who fought with calm detachment; wasting not a single motion.

She easily overwhelmed the Chiss's defenses with her perfect form.

There was no emotion. No anger. No revenge.

She was just doing what had to be done.

Lightsabering Chiss, DESTINY: 3eP+1eA+2eC+1eS 4 successes, 1 advantage

Kor heard Quinn cry out and his eyes went wide, his head snapped towards the chiss in sharp contrast to Quinn this was revenge, plain and simple. The is chiss had hurt someone he cared about and Kor would make him pay, rage swelled in his chest like a water boiling over a pot the excess escaping his lips in a vicious roar.

Ko When the lightsaber flicked on Kor might have been surprised if he weren't so thoroughly pissed.

He followed Quinn's assault his ax striking into the mercenary just as Quinn's attack finished. The blow a serious one but possibly overzealous as he likely left himself a little open in his fury
