Been lurking for the past couple of days but wanted to say hi and find out a little more about the game. I've been out of pbp for a few years, and I didn't know if one of the other boards had more information about the nature of this game (sandbox, mystery, daily life, etc.). Or, maybe one of you fine, upstanding citizens of the glorious new Republic might know (beyond what's been written on the boards here).

Hi and welcome aboard!

The core concept of the game is Western seen through the lens of Star Wars. I'm wanting to evoke a Magnificent Seven/Man With No Name Trilogy feel to the game.

There will be a core metaplot that takes place over the course of three sessions, with each session being three game days (each day roughly translating to 3 or 4 irl days, depending on when it falls).

There will be events that characters can participate in that will pertain to the main plot, or several side plots.

This game is running a little differently, in the way that I'm wanting to focus on groups. Star Wars, to me, has always been about the group dynamic (Leia, Luke, and Han/Padme, Anakin, and Obi Wan/Rey, Finn, and Poe).

It's a hard Galaxy to be alone in, so working together makes sense.

The only other thing I'd add beyond what our fearless leader has filled in is that we've been asked to self-sort into crews/teams/groups/whatever for mechanics and plot purposes. So you might check the Looking for Group board and/or Discord to see if any of the existing crews strikes your fancy, or whether your concept might match well into a new crew with the unattached people!

Just hoping to clarify a few things (and since I need to participate more to use PMs I guess this is the only way for me to do it )...

1) Do players submit their characters prior to joining a group?
2) Do players need a group before they submit (since they sorta need to know what the group has decided about obligation/duty)
3) Can I get my name changed to Hin'biki?

Otherwise, love the vibe of the game. Hope I can get everything worked out to join. <3

You don't need to submit character prior to joining a group. I'd say it's probably better to hold back on that because then you can adjust to fit the group.

I think 100% of the groups so far have been Obligation based. If you want to eyeball what's out there, the LFG forum has a helpful player-made post with fairly up-to-date rosters, so you can see who is out there and who is tending towards full (I think 6 is the technical limit, but given that obligation can start at 20, 5 is a more practical one).
