Noventa - A Star Wars Story

"Kriff you and your undocumented plurality." Sharn scoffed, then turned around. He would not lead this moron to anything.

“You got some pretty bad analogies and false logic going there... If you think you and an animal don’t have much in common, then you’re dumber than me.” Banks said with a laugh.

“But I think I’ve gotten as much enjoyment out of this interaction as I can. So... I’ll leave you to it.” Banks pulled up the strap on his backpack and made for the forest. “Don’t get eaten... or do I guess... if the algorithm in your brain tells you to. It’s probably just doing the rest of us a favor.”

And with that the man disappeared into the woods.

"I don't have expectations of being understood by random low-wits. Likening a superior sentient to an animal disqualifies whatever rudimentary trust in your intellect I may have been courteous to award you as the benefit of a doubt." Sharn scoffed. "When someone comms you, you hear incorporeal voices that aren't yours in your head. Apparently, your superstitious nature precludes understanding the world in terms of physics more complex than a rock falling on your head."

"Feelings are algorithms." He added after a pause, as if speaking to himself.

Oh how amusing. The bogeyman sacrificing children to an ancient deity. The accented voice held a smirk, before dissipating.

Trust your feelings, Chiss. You'll find the way.

"The line between genius and insanity can be pretty thin at times is all man. Not Chiss-ist in nature. Start hearing voices in your head that you think aren't yours... and you may have a problem." He shrugged.

"But all sorts of folks have all sorts of experiences. So maybe your genius comes to you in a way most of us would think is crazy... I'm not smart enough to tell. But when an animal starts acting in a weird way... I know not to treat it like nothing were the matter."

"Blue monkey gods? What ridiculous Chissophobe remark is that? Do you have a mental deficiency?" Sharn barked, suddenly incensed.

Banks tilted an eyebrow and shrugged his shoulders, "Ummm... okay. If it works for ya and doesn't mean you're gonna like start sacrificing kids to the blue monkey gods then... go for it I guess."

"Discoveries happen out of comfort zones." Sharn replied to both with one sentence.

It is as I suspected. The form looked at the other being, walking around him, then looking back to Sharn. Those who cannot perceive the Force cannot see me. To be honest, I was not sure until now. There was a dark chuckle of self satisfied amusement.

"Sounds trippy." He said with a nod and a mild look of skeptical acceptance.

"That happen to you a lot?"

"Magic treasure hunt." Sharn quipped. "I hear voices that lead me on."

He nodded, "The one who took down the Viper would've been me."

He then turned to the scenery, "Hiking? I guess... I'm somewhat of a survivalist. Hadn't been up to these parts in sometime and wanted to take a quick look to see some potential sights to go on an excursion."

He then asked, "What brings you up this way?"

"Sharn. I was too busy to memorise your face but you may be right, someone did down the Viper and it was not the blue Twi'lek. There was also some dumb human kid and her grandpa." He shrugged. "Hiking?"

"Name's Banks. We crossed path's yesterday at the crash site of those Imperial pods." He replied.

"Of course. My execution of Chiss life is by definition superior." Sharn commented. "Do I know you?"

Banks chuckled and hopped down from the tree. He dusted his knees off before commenting, "Wow, you really lean into the whole Chiss superiority thing quite well don't ya?"

"This gives me the certainty that I talk to the most intelligent creature on this planet and that I don't waste my time." Sharn replied reflexively before looking up.

From up in a tree only a few feet away from where the Chiss now walked a voice came suddenly from above, "You always talk to yourself while you're walking in the forest?"

"Because unlike your unspecific, magic methods it has continued to explain phenomena in a testable, verifiable and engineerable ways. Hyperdrives, turbolasers, synthetic intelligence are all because there's a language in which the way they work can be flawlessly written down. You are probably used to having power without understanding the rules by which it flows through you. Just like a gut bacterium which knows how to thrive on nutrition flows through intestines, and eats the host itself if the nutrition stops flowing, but never learns to describe the biochemistry by which it all happens." Sharn chuckled. "And I do trust my feelings. They are algorithmical in nature, also mathematics, though not fully written down yet. The Force must be mathematical too, and I will find the equation."

"Meditation. Application of my own skill, and constant training. And delving into the knowledge of my masters, and theirs before. So on and so forth. Often times, it meant studying even more ancient tomes. But it was all about feeling it out, learning inwardly versus cold, calculating study." The voice mused as it walked net to Sharn. "Why do you trust mathematics so implicity? Why not go with what you can feel, or do?
