While Sharn soon refocused on what was needed to bring back the Charm to prime conditions.

[Difficulties of Mechanics rolls, number of them, monetary cost, timeslot requirements]

Farkas goes about the task of prepping for another pass through the debris field. This interruption had ruined the efficiency of the run, but they were collecting a mostly intact cloakshape fighter so it had been useful.

"Right." Syzygy moved the Strange Charm into position.

Sharn watched the theatre of helplessness through the cabin's transparisteel in contemplative silence, becoming introspectively philosophical about the meaning of life and the consequentiality of life choices. Whatever his conclusions, he pouted his mouth in the end.

"Let's pull the Cloakshape in."

After several tense minuses of Farkas' work, the canopy of the Cloakshape vents out. The pilot, in a sealed suit, flails as his body floats helplessly into the debris field. The odds of being found before an accident are astronomical.

Sharn, for allowing this to happen, the Dark Side tugs at you, and you incur 3 conflict.

The Cloakshape continues to drift lifelessly.

"If they knew about good salvage, they'd be salvaging it," Farkas replies. He focuses on the task of taking over the disabled cloakfighter's systems with the slicing functions. As soon as he can and has control he activates the emergency eject and spaces the pirate.

"I can get as close as you want." she said. "He doesn't deserve much mercy for shooting my ship, but maybe he knows something about the debris field. Might lead us to better salvage."

"I don't really want to put the crew or rest of the ship at any further risk than already necessary," Farkas says. "I'm just going to space him."

"Electrocute? Asphyxiate?" Sharn mused. "Or maybe just space. If it doesn't kill, it might render unconscious."

"Do you have the means to subdue him if he's an experienced soldier that's taken up piracy?" Farkas asked. "Because I'd just as soon not have to deal with him coming out of his cockpit with a blaster rifle. Regardless of what control I can exert over that ship, it's not flying anywhere under it's own power without repairs if it's current actions are any indication. Which means we'd have to load it into the hangar."

"Unless we drop him wrapped in ribbon as a gift to local authorities. Maybe there's a bounty, and we have an interest to be on their good side." He looked at Zygy. "Either way, could you get us closer, Sy?"

"I can certainly try. Though this is not an advanced slicing suite, just standard for this ship class," Farkas replies. "If I can, I'll eject the pilot. Not worth dealing with the prick."

"Farkas, could you take control over this craft remotely if we get close enough?" Sharn asked without much emotion.

Material Retrieval II - Cloakshape Minion Regaining control (Agility 3, No minion group members, Hard difficulty for speed, boost from screen last action): 3eA+1eB+3eD 1 failure, 4 advantage
ImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

The final Cloakshape, continues to drift out of control after it's previous crash, moving through the debris field. Luckily, it is able to at least avois any further collisions, until it disappears in the debris. (4 advantage to run away).

Combat ends, the Ace Cloakshape remains, floating and drifting. It seems to have burnt out power couplings, and is sparking violently, as the pilot seems to be trying to reactivate it. To no avail.

Farkas goes into an offensive assault on the enemy's computer systems, but can't quite get through for some reason. Perhaps it's resonance in the debris field or the strain on the computer system from when he rerouted the missile. Either way, it's not very effective. But in the process he does manage to cut through some of the noise in the area making it easier for the targeting system to track it's intended target.

D2 Ambush, Slice Enemy's Systems on Rival, Computers, Hard: 1eA+3eP+3eD 0 successes, 1 advantage

Having been informed what the threats have done...

However, the aggressive and reckless maneuvering and juking, the cloakshape is pushed past her limits, and a shower of sparks flares out from the power generator, and she begins to lilt harmlessly in space, power shorting out.

(System strained past threshold)

Material Retrieval II - Cloakshape Rival (Agility 2, Gunnery 2, 2 silhouette smaller than Strange Charm, Attacking Fore, Twin Light Laser Cannon (Dam 6, Crit 3, Linked 1): 2eP+1eD+2eS 2 successes, 2 threat, 1 Triumph
ImageImageImageImageImage
Defense was 3: 1eS 1 failure
Image

Total: 7 damage, Using the Triumph for a Critical on the Strange Charm. What would you all like done with the 2 threat?

Critical Hit 1d100: 1d100 97

The Cloakshape Ace rolls with the hit, though sparks fly from the underbelly as they bank away, and resume course. Lining up their shot, it grazes past the shields, lighting up marked blow on the vessel.

Sy, you notice something in it's attack pattern, and are able to get a better read on it. Boost die to the next attack on it.

PC up.

With Sharn guiding the ship, Zygy took a moment to aim at the pirate leader. She hit the Cloakshape cleanly, but thought she noticed something more.

(Using 1 threat for 1 setback on the next roll, as the shield boosting muddies the targetting system of the gun)
