MA1 - Scanning the System

There are reports that a meteor impact has happened in the plains near the capital city, at least an hour's airspeeder ride out. Or falling debris, the usual culprit. Either way, something of value could be found out in the plains, if someone is willing to trek out to the impact site. Before anyone else does, anyway...

Banks was already out in the plains doing some preliminary scouting after he had heard reports of a particularly large Manka Cat in the area. When the objects came falling from the sky he chuckled to himself, pulled his backpack strap up higher onto his shoulder and headed off in the direction of the commotion.

To go where no-one else has gone... sas an illusion. Still, an a astrogenous incident was some food for curiosity, and Sharn was after certain rare mineral, so on the off chance it might yield something he used whatever transport was at hand to deploy into the area...

Asteroid impact could have some rare materials, rare materials could bring in good money and Kor could always use a few extra credits. So he headed out to the sight of the supposed impact looking to find something of interest.

It wasn't what Lena and Jelna had said was acceptable and safe work to do, but hey! Excitement! Fey had never seen a meteorite before, so that would be totally awesome.

Could be fun. Could be credits!

Quinn joined Kor for some mineral scavenging. Credits were good, after all. And plus, she had a weird feeling. Which probably totally had nothing to do with any of this, and which might totally be her imagination. But still... there it was. So here she was.

The high afternoon sun bakes down on the rolling plains, as the tall grasses sway with the breeze. In the distance, smoke rises from the impact site, visible from every direction.

As you all approach, it is very apparent that this wasn't a true meteor strike. Or even a singular one. Three pods have slammed into the hillside, evidence of retro repulsors slowing the impacts enough to stop two of the craft from completely embedding themselves.

Knowledge (Warfare) at average difficulty to identify the craft. Sharn, Fey, and Kor, you each receive a boost die to your check for background knowledge that may prove useful.

As Banks approaches the quietly pod he squints his eyes to try and figure out just what it is...

Kor approaches the pods with his ax in hand, it never hurt to be too careful. He studied the pods thinking they were familiar but he could quite pin point where he recognized them from or exactly what they were for.

Fey wasn't a fighter and had never taken part in the war as such, but... having spent some years around a Moff, she had picked up more than he had intended.

Those of you who passed the check:

The pods are unmistakable. Imperial Drop Pods, used most often to launch Viper Probe Droids. However, two of them are larger than normal. Cefey, you pick up that these are troop drop pods, evidence showing that they've already dispersed from the pods.

Banks, while trying to identify the pods, it becomes a singular task for the moment. You will suffer one setback die to your next check.

Sharn, while your brilliance easily picks out what the pods are, your arrogance presumes a certain casual dismissal of it, suffering 1 strain.

The pods still radiate heat from the entry into Noventa's atmosphere, showing around how charred the tall grasses are near the impact points. Whatever was here, can't be too far off.

Oh no... this is bad. Like, babe is gonna have a fit-bad. Fey bit her lower lip as she connected the dots: Imperial troops that had already dispersed from the drop pods.

Chances were slim that it would be someone they knew or were here for them specifically, and common sense said that she should leave now and let the others know. No, I can do this too! There could be things she could learn from the pods, maybe, and that made it worth checking out.

And so, Fey decided to continue the approach.

Of the other people who reached the spot Sharn had no connection with any, so he didn't feel even remotely compelled to share his findings. He assumed in his arrogance that for him a Remnant recon deployment was hardly bad news. Instead, he proceeded toward the pods for additional clues.

Kor saw others approaching and figured they thought it was safe so it probably wasn't going to kill them if they got to it. Kor made his own way closer to the pods and examined them they clearly were some type of pod but what it housed he had no idea.

Kor looked to the others that were approaching the pods "Any of you got any idea what used to be in these?" his deep voice rumbled out.

Fey tugged a bit nervously at the collars of her duster. "... Troopers, monsieur," she spoke with some tension in her tone, making it clear she was wary.

Quinn followed alongside Kor. She had no idea these things were related to anything Imperial of course, but she knew this was either bad... or... well, good. Technology was worth more than rocks, right? Generally speaking?

But she didn't necessarily trust these other people around. Especially that bounty hunter. He could be trouble.

Then the Twi'lek spoke, mentioning troopers. And some weird alien word she didn't recognize. She then looked up at Kor for a moment before returning her attention to the alien.

"Aren't they all... you know... dead?"

Kor's eyes darkened for a moment, of course they were imperial drop pods he should have recognized them at once, he had been in them more than once. his hand gripped on his ax as he looked around. Kor picked up on the twi'lek's tension as she would easily be able to pick up on his "I take it you're no friend of the empire then? you seem too tense about this." his voice contained a clear core worlds accent, someone from Corellia would certainly recognize that he sounded like he was from the planet.

"Of course they are not, silly child. Imperials are all among us, just most pretend to be someone else now." Sharn quipped in retort.

"The payload may be approximated. Technology is Imperial, as has most likely been the capability that launched them. It's rather certain that the Viper probes are roaming the planet now."
