Give me a catscan please. [D4, MM]

Postby Quinn Largo » Thu Oct 18, 2018 6:23 pm

A young girl, looking younger than she actually was, walked into the medical center midway through the morning. There wasn't anything obviously wrong with her, at least not from a casual glance. If she had any injuries; which indeed she did; they were covered up by her clothing.

"Uhm... hello?" She called out, announcing her presence.

His sleeping patterns now restored to normal, Temra was running his weekly diagnostics on the unused bacta tanks when he heard a call from the front. Frustrated that the automated alert didn't go off when a customer entered the establishment, he let out a sigh and headed to the reception area.

"Good morning Miss, I am Temra Zol, assistant to Dr Suhr. How may we be of assistance to you today?"

"Oh uhm..."

She took a step back. Maybe it was the horns... or something else... that gave her a moment of pause.

"...I got injured the other day, I wanted a professional to take a look."

Temra nods at her reasoning, unsurprised in the least. This was a med clinic after all, what else would people come here for?

Reaching behind the reception desk, he retrieves the standard admission forms and legal boilerplate for Quinn to look over. "We do need some details and particulars regarding your current state of health, medical history and nature of the treatment you seek or injuries you possess. I'll leave these with you to complete as much or little as you wish, but keep in mind that the more information Dr Suhr has, the better she'll be able to tend your needs."

"Uhm..."

She looked it over, already considering what name she should sign with. Not her real one, surely.

"...how much is all this going to cost?"

"If price is an issue, then perhaps you may qualify for a compassionate discount. There are numerous charitable methods that this clinic uses to defray costs that your treatment could possibly be swept under, but the base rate would obviously depend on what treatment is required for whatever ailments you may possess." Temra explained kindly.

What he didn't explain was that those charitable discounts normally came out of his salary, but he always had a soft spot for hard luck cases.

"Oh please sir, I'm just an orphan... I don't have much."

She was lying her ass off. Not only was she not an orphan, she had loads and loads of credits. She just didn't want to have to part with them.

"Well first thing first," Temra began speaking as he slid the forms forward to the youth. "We'll need to get your injuries assessed, then we'll have a better idea of price and other things."

There was a certain quality the young girl had, an almost kinship that Temra felt towards her that made him want to help her. She reminded him in some way of Bamsh and the connection Temra felt with him. Could she be...?

Temra was professional enough not to blush at Quinn's response, but he also knew that this was hardly the place for such...openness.

"Ah, Miss? I'd ask you to refrain from doing such in an open area such as this, for your own reputation. There are security cameras in this foyer and while I've tried to ensure they are closed circuit and immune to hacking, I would not wish to risk footage leaking out into the Holonet."

He coughs slightly and gestures to one of the exam rooms.

"If you'd proceed through here, that would be a more suitable location for any medical undertakings to take place, and if you'd be more comfortable waiting for Dr Suhr to examine injuries to more....delicate areas, I will completely understand."

She followed the directions.

"Maybe that'd be best. Thank you."

On cue, Dr. Suhr emerges from another exam room down the hallway, white coat on and datapad in hand. "Hi, Temra. Another drop-in?"

"Your assumption is correct Doctor. We had just begun the intake procedure, history still incomplete, but the patient advises her injuries may be in a position where a same sexed medical practitioner would be preferable." Temra explains as he takes a step back to position himself in a spot to draw the curtains and leave as soon as Yara was ready to take over,

"Uhm..."

At this point Quinn was more uncomfortable by the way Temra was talking than anything else.

I'm right here too...

"...hello. I'm Quinn."

Temra raised an eyelid at finally being given a name by which to refer to the patient.

"Well Miss Quinn, this is Dr Yara Suhr, primary medical practitioner at this establishment, and the best set of hands you're likely to find on this planet." Temra concludes the introductions.

"Doctor, if you need anything I'll be around for a little while then heading to the spaceport in a few hours to collect our next delivery."

"Thanks, Temra," Yara nods. "If you need an extra pair of hands to move everything in this weather, I think Raine may be around...? I'm not positive." Then she redirects her attention to the young patient.

"Hello, Quinn." The doctor's smile is professional, but not at all cold. "So you're hurt? I see Temra's been taking you through the intake form. I'm sure it seems like a lot, but keeping consistent records helps us take better care of you."

"Yeah, I guess," she said, not really too interested in any intake forms.

She lifted her shirt slightly, showing a bit off her injuries; which looked like some kind of big animal tried to eat her. Which was precisely what had happened, in fact. Still, it looked worse than it actually was.

"Had a little accident."

After nudging the exam room door shut, Yara turns back toward Quinn just as the patient lifts her shirt.

"Oh my..." The doctor trails off, eyes widening a little. "What, er, happened here? Looks like you had a scrap with some kind of animal." This is far from the first set of animal-attack injuries she'll have treated on Noventa, but the contrast between the ugly wounds, Quinn's age, and her apparent nonchalance about it manages to surprise nevertheless. She pulls a pair of thin gloves out of a pocket of her coat and begins pulling them on.

"Oh uhm... I went into the forest. I shouldn't have."

She watched the doctor put on her gloves for a moment before continuing.

"It doesn't hurt that badly now. But I did think I was going to die."
