[D1 MM] Out Here in the Fields (Event, Docs)

It was a particularly slow morning for the Neda Ulaby crew, which is a good thing if you think about it. Not many people coming in means there isn't any lives on the line. Which is about as much as anyone could ask for in these times. Though, the lingering around does come to a hault when a young Mirialan farmer comes knocking on your door, seeking your help.



Bamsh, a young Mirialan farmer comes in seeking your aid. Over the past few nights, wild Manka Cats have been assaulting his Homestead, causing damage to their crops as well as making a small dent in their Nerf population. While they have managed to hold them off fairly well, last night came a larger assault on their property, wounding and injuring several of their hired help. While he has plans to seek out and hire some additional help to fend them off, what he needs is medical attention for those men and women. Their stimpack supply have slowly started to dwindle after the frequent assaults and their wounds are no longer something to be able to be handle by a simple stimpack injection.

He wishes to see if he could ask for several doctors to help attend to the wounded, as well as the means to restock their medical supplies.

((Bamsh wishes to hire out your medical services out for the day treating the wounded of his Homestead as well as buy off some of the stimpacks you have. Have one PC roll one Negotiation check, They will counter the Cool check I have made. The end results will determine how much you are able to negotiate the price for, should you accept the job. Xenology can be made to determine information about the Manka Cats, should you wish, at a Average (♦♦) difficulty. Boost dice can be granted from anyone native to Noventa from probably having to deal with them at some point. Feel free to use this thread to ask any questions ICly and Bamsh will do his best to answer them. If the job is accepted, then he is eager to have you arrive at your earliest convenience to help with heal the stable hands so they can assist in the evening's likely attack, though understands if you will be delayed. "Manka cats, hm? I'm sorry to hear you've been having such trouble," Yara says, leaning an elbow on the reception counter and tucking her light pen into the wavy knot of her hair for temporary safekeeping. "I think we can spare the personnel for a house call today, if you have too many wounded to bring in to town at once--but I'll have to check with the others."

Yara recalls that manka cats were something of a nuisance, no matter where you found them in the galaxy. They were fierce predators, always hunted in packs, and their favorite prey has always been nerfs, though they are also known to eat other animals, including humanoids. Though, they aren't something you would really worry about since there's usually about 3-4 of them. Maybe he's overblowing the problem?

Temra rounds the corner and wipes his hands on a greasy rag.

"Generator's fixed Yara, it was just..." He starts to explain before noticing she was with company, which sent him immediately silent for a few moments, as normally happened around people he didn't know.

"Is everything alright here doc?" He asked, for the young man Yara was speaking with didn't appear in need of immediate medical assistance.

[Yara Suhr]

"Oh, thank goodness." Yara smiles at Temra with obvious gratitude. "Another hour and we'd have had to flush the bacta tanks--that would be a waste." It's not as if their little venture runs on such healthy profit margins that they can afford to throw away hundreds of liters of otherwise perfectly good bacta.

"This is Farmer Bamsh," she gestures to the stranger. "His homestead's been having a problem with wild animal attacks--sounds as if they could use some professional medical help. Bamsh, this is Temra Zol, one of the team members I was just thinking would be good to have along... if you're not booked this afternoon?" She glances back toward Temra, raising an eyebrow in inquiry.

Temra shrugs and tosses the oily rag across his shoulder.

"I have some o-scope tests to run, but nothing really critical, just standard quarterly routine." The technician confirms.

"Happy to lend a hand to assist those who need it." Temra adds as he steps up to the farmer and offers a handshake.

[Flession]

Bamsh extends his hand to Temra, clasping it with a smile. A strange sense comes over thru the Force, feeling it flow thru him as he feels it flow thru you. His eyes widen but for a moment at the shock, but pulls away from him politely, not saying anything more about it.

"Yes...well, thank you. You do not know how frustrating it is to deal with these creatures." Smiling on he looks him over.. "Mechanic, you say? Well I don't know how good you are medical things, but I think there are a few thing out there you can help us with all the same if you want. Unless you're a doctor as well and I've insulted you. I certainly hope that this not the case."

Temra feels it too, an energy he hasn't felt in another in a long time and it only solidifies his opinion on helping the farmers, although he too decides to keep quiet on the revelation...for now.

"Yes," Temra replies ambiguously. "I'm sure I can find some way to be of assistance out there."

"Worry not about offering offense though Mister Bamsh, I keep the big heavy machinery running but I couldn't perform any of the medical procedures. I do know which end of the stimpacks to use, but little more than that."

[Flession]

"You're about as apt on that stuff as I am, then, Temra. We only have one guy out there who is decent enough at it, but he's one of the people who needs help." He chuckles at the irony of their doctor being injured, his movements and tone showing a slight bit of exhaustion. He confirms it by giving a small yawn, covering his mouth to be polite in front of the present company. "I hate to ask this, but do you happen to have some caf here? I haven't slept much since last night."

[Temra Zol]

"The brew from this morning is likely no longer fresh, but I can certainly procure you some. Unless Doctor Suhr would recommend a stronger stimulant?" Temra answers with a glance to the head of the clinic.

[Raine]

Raine keeps her distance from the rest of the group as she keeps an eye on the prospective client. He seemed like an alright guy, but that’s always the type that gets you. So she remains wary of the new arrival.

Zataa walks up to the nice Mirialan holding several cardboard boxes in her hands as she speaks to him about the cost of doing the job.

After much talking and chatting, she can't quite seem to break him down on his offer of 2000 credits, though she does manage to squeeze in the potential of earning more as a side bonus should enough people be saved by your hand.

Internally, Temra is a little surprised. He knows it takes credits to keep the lights on as it were, but something in him seems a little off about getting paid for this, beyond their costs.

Then he realizes that's why he wasn't asked to negotiate and chuckles a little to himself.

Yara is happy to let Zataa handle this part of the talking, knowing her Togruta colleague will do a better job of striking the balance between community goodwill and continued ability to pay the utility bills than Yara would herself. It's not that I mean to lowball these things, I swear. It just always seemed to turn out that way. She doesn't think of herself as a cripplingly honest person by any means, but... and then she's lost the train of thought, tapping open the inventory program on her datapad and running down the stocklists of stimpacks and antimicrobial drugs to plot out what the team is likely to need on this call. Which is probably exactly why she's no good at bidding for jobs.

"Anything stronger than caf has a come-down stronger than caf, and I'm guessing that's not what Mr. Bamsh needs right now," she says in reply to Temra's question, lips quirking as she nods to him.

Temra nods, ceding ground to Yara's superior knowledge on the subject.

"So Mister Bamsh," Temra asks as he starts making a fresh pot of caf. "Has the incursion of these cats been a recent thing? Or do they intermittently creep out of the wilds towards your farm in search of food?"

[Flession]

"Yes...I want to stay awake for a little while, not stay away for a day and pass out on the ground." He gives a polite laugh at Temra's comment and smiles. "Well, they are bothersome, but never on this scale. It feels...coordinated. Crazy, I know. Those things aren't the brightest of things, barely organized at best. Yet, there they are, gathering around and doing assaults. It's all rather crazy."
