Thunderbolts and lightning, very very frightening (D4, EM)

Fey didn't feel good when she woke up. In fact, a part of her felt like she was back in the Empire's clutches... that horrible oppressiveness and sense of foreboding. At first she had to doublecheck her surroundings before she felt safe enough to leave her room, and head to the lounge and kitchen area. Time to start up some caf.

She pulled her bathrobe tightly around herself as she felt a shiver that did not come from the temperature on the ship. Something feels... wrong. Like I need to run away.

"How do I do this again?" Jelna growled at the cockpit. She eventually let out an exasperated scream and threw herself onto the pilot's chair.

This feeling inside her, it had to be due to this planet. This damn, Imperial infested planet. And all she wanted to do was get as far away as possible. She gripped the side of the chair and fought back her tears. "What would Zerra do, what would Zerra do...?"

Fey perked up as she heard sounds from the cockpit. She turned on the caf-machine, and quietly approached the cockpit.

"Hey..." poking her head in, she saw the source of the scream. "... Jelna? You ok?"

In truth, she felt rather scared herself. But right now the Captain seemed worse off.

"Cefey! Hi." Jelna moved her hand away from her holster and looked back to the controls. "We need to get out of here, now." Her voice was obviously strained, trying to bring herself back in line. She then froze and looked back at the twi'lek. "Are the others onboard right now?"

"Uhh..." Fey gave her a sceptical glance when she saw the hand-motion. "... I think they're asleep still."

She didn't smile like she often did. Instead her mouth was pressed into a thin line. "... Is something wrong? I mean, something feels wrong, but... uh," the twi'lek stopped to glance around. "Did something bad happen?"

"You feel it too then." Jelna lowered her eyes and then nodded. "I do wonder if the others feel something is amiss too." She then shook her head and got up from the chair. "You are more adept at piloting the ship than I. We should leave with the utmost haste."

She crossed her arms, as if she needed the warmth underneath her thick jacket. "At the armory, I physically saw what happened. It was a hallucination and yet I have no reason to doubt its validity." She sighed. "I may be proficient in investigatory matters, but this has never happened before. I did not need to piece together evidence; I simply witnessed the scene."

"You do know our Dear would kill me if I started up the bird without her," she said somewhat pointedly as she moved closer.

"I... don't think they do though..." seeing Jelna had the same shiver she did, Fey slipped the bathrobe off and stood there in her PJs as she put the robe over Jelna's shoulders. "That's... that's not normal, no. Do you think it could have something to do with those troopers and their arrival here? Last.... last time I felt anything close to something like this, was back before. With the Empire."

Normally, she was the kind that was able to give a sense of ease or a good feeling, but... maybe it was because she was scared too that she just couldn't do it.

Jelna sat down at the co-pilots chair and closed her eyes. "The last time I experienced this feeling was in the interrogation chambers." She wrapped herself more to fight the oppressive chill. "Have you ever felt someone's anguish so wholly that you wonder if it is your own? And yet still press on with the process, all in the name of order and prosperity."

She shook her head slowly. "No... no, not like that. Just... sometimes before, I would just have this... heavy feeling of darkness and oppressiveness." Fey carefully slumped into the pilot-chair next to Jelna.

What would Sweetie do?

"We can't run away from everything. I mean, we try, but is that a way we should live our lives forever?" Reaching out her hands, Fey found Jelna's and gently cupped it between her palms. "There's a whole lot going on I don't really understand. Like... there's a lot of people I've met here who this odd feeling to them. Like I can feel them without being near them, if that makes sense?" she offered a weak smile at that. "But I don't know if I want to run away from it."

"I basked in that feeling myself, I imagine. What I have done is terrible indeed."

Jelna did not pull away from the palms but did not rest idly in them either. "We flee because we need to in order to survive. We owe the people of this planet nothing."

She knew better than to pry into Jelna's past. She knew it was bad, and it was maybe one of the reasons why she had felt such strong bad vibes from her when they first met too.

"Hmm... maybe not, but why did you want to help investigating if you care nothing for what happens?"

"Because we would be rewarded for it," Jelna blurted out. She then sighed and looked away. "Removing Imperial Remnants would secure this planet for us. But now I see that this could never be our home. That is why we must depart with the utmost haste, Cefey."

"And then what? Remnants take over the planet, and then they move onto the next one... and then we're just back to running until we have nowhere left to run." Fey retorted, with some more feistyness than usual. "That's not what Zerra would've done, you know."

A low-blow perhaps, but she hoped it would make Jelna consider things differently.

"You have no right to speak her name. You know nothing about her!" Jelna pulled away and rotated the chair away. "I was ready to surrender myself to court but she convinced me to leave it all behind. She told me to flee, to not let the past haunt me. But here we are on some wretched planet that refuses to let us rest, where sickness pervades the air."

Fey let Jelna pull away, knowing she had probably stepped a bit too far there.

"You're right... I didn't know her as well as you did," she conceded in a softer tone. "But I remember she was headstrong, and she was a good person." The twi'lek remembered good feelings about Sweetie, but also the feelings of regret and the haunted past that the others seemed to have too. "She didn't strike me as the type to leave easily."

Her breath rose before sighing deeply. "Let's talk with the others about it too, ok? I know Kai is tired of being on the move all the time..."

"She never wanted to leave in the first place," Jelna admitted. She drew more into herself, wrapping her arms around her legs. "But she never wanted to fight either."

She sighed. "You are trying to delay this. But we need to depart before it gets even worse."

"I am, because I don't want to run every time I get scared. Because I'm tired of running." Fey's voice rose a little as she got up from the pilot chair. "Because I'm tired of being controlled by things that scare me. This... whatever it is, it scares me. I don't know what it is, but it scares me. But if I run away again, I'm... I'm no better than what I used to be."

"Are you certain you never joined the Rebel Alliance?" Jelna teased, "They never wanted to kneel to the threat of fear." She folded her hands and closed her eyes. "Pain, however. Pain shapes a person. I do not want to suffer for some backwater planet."

"If given the choice, I might've. But I never had opportunities to choose until recently," she retorted, though with the ghost of a smile in her tone.

"I guess I sometimes also want to remind myself that I'm not like those we once were forced to serve. That I'm a better person."

"That would be nice for you. That is not my fate, though. My actions are my own." Jelna let out a sigh. "Zerra told me that I was brainwashed. But could she be wrong?"

Her eyes warily went to outside the ship. "This sickening feeling. I feel fear too but I am also called to commit atrocities once more. These hands of mine were made to inflict pain, so it would seem."
