[D3 EM, Strange Charm] Assessment and Appraisal

Getting up in the morning before everyone, Farkas knew that it wasn't his turn for prep so he went to busy himself with the Cloakshape. Opening the canopy and moving to sit in the cockpit, he was surprised to see that there was a message waiting there. He wondered if it was someone asking for an update from the pirate pilot he had spaced. Didn't matter, he shrugged as he played the message and it was an invitation for the crew to meet at neutral ground. Smelled like a trap to him, and he didn't like that. He wondered how much the former pilot had communicated with this mystery person as he pulled out his slicer gear and went about taking control of the ship computers so that he could unlock them and see all previous logs for communications, locations and activity.

To track the source of the message, will be an average computers check.

The logs showed that the message was received sometime late at night.

Sharn paraded into the hangar with a holopad in one hand and a glass of blue milk in another. He didn't seem to be for any specific purpose, just walking around and thinking as he was used to do it. Initially, he didn't even Farkas dealing with their captured craft.

"Well, that's disappointing. But at least the thing's basically operating in factory default operational mode. Nobody's locked it down," he says to himself, before he goes about doing a damage assessment. He checks to see what the ship computer can tell him first before he does a walkaround.

"What are you doing." Sharn asked when he walked into Farkas' rumbling zone.

"Assessing the status of the cloakshape so that we can make a decision on what to do moving forward," Farkas explained after getting out to start his walk-around. "The computers are operating in basic factory operation mode. They haven't been locked down. Likely hijacked en route to an independent distributor."

"There is a message requesting a meeting with us on the console. I was distracted by all the other stuff I'm doing and didn't trace it's source properly. You can hop in and give it a go while I continue cataloging the damage."

"What a role reversal." Sharn snarled, but poked into the console. He had it in no time.

"Looks as though the market price for getting this machine running again would be around 3000 credits," Farkas says as he pokes around on his datapad. "We could check market prices for current condition and repaired condition. We might also consider cannibalizing it for parts and scrap. Buying the weapon systems it carries would usually cost around 20 thousand credits. Make a few modifications to put the twin light laser cannons on a turret and we have an effective secondary weapon. Concussion missiles present an ongoing cost, but also provide a launcher that we could use for testing customized warheads from that class."

The signal came from what appears to be an old Republic cruiser, trapped in stable orbit in the debris field. It was a strong signal.

With the triumph, the flight recorder kicked on, broadcasting to the console. It showed the interior or the derelict craft, shown to be refurbished into a working space port. Cloakshapes, freighters, and one gunship, flew in and out.

Whoever the Lyran Pirates were, it seemed their operation was in full swing in the field.

"Look at that, Farkas. There's a hidden player in this game and they have resolved to meet us." He clicked his tongue. "We've shown our colours, maybe it's time to broker something. Let's keep the Cloakshade as is until we know their intentions."

"Damn pirates. Log the location of that ship so we can at least avoid that region of the debris ring," Farkas says. "If we're meeting them we can use knowledge of their base as a bargaining chip. I'm sure they'd hate it if their location we're broadcast to all of Noventa. Probably plenty of people they've ripped off that wouldn't mind knowing."

"I think they may be the ones responsible for planetary comm distortions." He paused. "That said, my sympathy for local authorities is almost non-existent after they how have treated me about the factory."

He instinctively spotted loosened elements in pressurising system of the cargo hold and fixed it in no time while talking to Farkas.
