D6, MA - Shopping Before the Fest (Noventa Shopping Maul)

[Cal Arcton]

Cal gave her a sharp look. "Well, that sounds like a cause for concern. You need help looking into that?"

But they had spotted their goal. Well, sorta. "Huh." Cal said, glancing at the Lando pillow, then leaning forward to read one of the towels. "Home is where the heart is." He read aloud. The towel in question sported a picture of the famed New Republic cruiser, Home One.

He turned back to Tew, a mix of amusement and doubt on his features. "Well, if we don't find what we're looking for, it'll be worth a few laughs, at least."

"No doubt. And if nothing else, maybe I can get some incense to make that apartment a little less stuffy."

Walking in with Cal, it wasn't long until they found what they were looking for; Indoor plants. Well, thus it seemed. Still, it didn't take much inspection to tell they were all fake, no matter how well crafted.

[Cal Arcton]

After poking about the sixth plastic plant, Cal shook his head with a grimace. "I don't know. I guess some of these look okay, but the person I'm buying it for grew up on a farm, like me. I'm not gonna get a fake plant for someone who's family made a life out of growin' things."

He rose to his feet with a shrug. "Well, it's not often you get lucky the first time, anyway. You see anything you like?"

"No, I suppose you're right; ...I don't even see anything I want here myself. Not that I'm looking for much. Definitely not my style though. Too rustic and plain; A lot of whites and beiges and homey stuff. I prefer things more modern and colorful. Let's try the next place."

[Cal Arcton]

"Modern and colorful, huh?" Cal said. "Well, I'm not sure I can help too much with that, not for your apartment." He smiled. "But you put on a dress of any kind, and I can tell you how you look."

The mall (or maul) had map stations periodically available. Cal made his way to one, frowning as he looked at it. "Huh. Says here that this FTB store stands for Florist's Transworld Barge." He shrugged. "Never woulda guessed it stood for that."

A chuckle as Cal made the comment, Tew looking over the map as well, "No, I suppose I wouldn't have as well. Then again, people do love their abbreviations. I know there were at least three stores within walking distance of where I grew up called FTL, because they thought it gave an impression of speed or freedom. I'm guessing, in this case, they just want people to double take on it so they're more likely to actually look at the store."

Spotting the direction they needed to go, Tew started off in that direction.

Cal kept up easily enough; he'd save the appreciative glances for when she tried on clothing. "Freedom always sells, I guess."

He shot her a curious glance. "If you're doin' more decorating, does that mean you plan to stick around here a bit longer?"

"Oh, I'm not planning on doing much; Mostly just something to make the place smell nice, maybe one or two knick-knacks so that the place feels a little less bare, stuff that I can pack and take with me. I certainly don't bring much of my own when I travel, typically. So it would be nice to have something like that, you know? I mean, something besides just clothes and towels and such."

It didn't take long to get to the florist; It was quite easy to find too, thanks to having a skylight. A nice benefit of having a top floor store. The storefront also had a revolving door, the inside being quite humid and fragrant.

"Well... this isn't the sort of thing I think of finding in a mall like this, certainly Cal."

[Cal Arcton]

"Ah, I gotcha. That makes sense." Frowning, Cal scratched at his stubble. "Come to think about it, back when I was a marshal, I'd do that from time to time. Sometimes you'd be stuck in the same room for a while. I'd just get a little something so that it'd feel more like a home than a hotel room."

Stepping through the revolving door, Cal let out a low whistle. "Well, well. Now this looks more like what I'm after. Let's see..."

A bit of navigating, and some more poking (carefully at the more thorny plants), and Cal lifted a pot. "I think this one will suit her just fine." He said.



"Doesn't need much water or sun. Perfect." He smiled.

Tew ~considered~ a plant. It would be a nice thing of life, easier to take care of than a pet, after all. But she quickly ruled it out, however; Even something super easy would be a pain to transport on a shuttle. And she wanted to be careful with her credits anyways.

As Cal picked out a plant and showed it to her, Tew smiled, "Hey, as long as you think you can handle it, I say go for it; It's pretty enough, and the dark leaves go with that bar of yours. That WAS where you were putting it, right?"

[Cal Arcton]

Cal shook his head, smiling. "Nah, it's not for my place. It's for the medical clinic. Doc's patched me up more times'n I can count, so I thought I'd get her a little thank you present." He smirked. "Besides, I figure I can maybe talk her into putting it near the bacta tank. Give me something else to see next time I'm floating in it."

He went and quickly paid for the plant. That done, he turned to Tew with a smile. "And, speaking of thank you, I saw this and couldn't help myself." With a flourish, from up his sleeve, he pulled a flower, handing it to Tew.



"It's probably a little rustic and homey. And corny, believe me, I know that." Cal shrugged, still smiling. "But I am who I am."

[Tewzada Star'Ti]

Tew chuckled softly, looking at the flower with a smile, "Nothing wrong with being yourself, certainly; It's a lesson some people could stand to learn. Can I have you hold on to it for a bit though? The flower that is, not your personality; I don't want it smooshed in my handbag or left somewhere while I'm changing. I'll take it after that. Speaking of..."

She looked at a window display nearby, "I think I see a clothing store that is calling out to me."

It was a shop called 'W.W.F.', though it was hard to read the smaller sign beneath it with the full name. Maybe they were trying to pull from the well the botanical shop was using, or maybe it was simple coincidence.

[Cal Arcton]

"Sure thing." Cal said with an easy smile. "Not the first time I've accompanied a lady shopping. I know the drill."

He easily followed her glance into the nearby window display, his eyebrows going up once he followed her train of thought as well. "Alright, then. Well, in that case, by all means." He couldn't open the door for her, of course, but he could incline his head and wave her inside when it automatically slid open.

He glanced around, trying to spot something, as she said, 'fun, festive, and maybe a little bit racy', although he may have been most focused on the last of those.

The shop was very colorful, and a little avant garde. It seemed to be divided into six sections: Up front, a section with dresses was next to one with shorts and skirts. Behind that were sections with shirts and one with accessories like hats and belts. And the back was divided between swimwear and underwear. It all seemed to be warm weather wear, despite autumn approaching, with nary a sign of pants or jackets or such.

Tew gravitated right to the dresses, particularly some racks with various sundresses.

Cal followed along agreeably, still carrying his plant, and the flower.

"Spot anything you like?" Cal said. "I don't know that I'd be the best at picking something out, rather'n just helping you pick." He smiled. "But I'll bet these ones with flowers on 'em would make you like as pretty as a plaitfruit."

She took a glance at Cal and nodded, "Yeah, I was thinking of something with a leaf or flower design. Something bright."

Tew turned back to the dresses and picked a few out.

"Okay, I'll head to the changing room with these ones... I'll leave you to tell me bow they turn out."

[Cal Arcton]

"Sounds good to me." Cal said, as casually agreeable as ever.

As it happened, there were seats just outside the changing room, intended for people in exactly the sort of situation Cal found himself in. With a sigh, he sat back in one of those, setting the plant down next to him. "I'm looking forward to it." He said, waving to her.

Ducking into a curtained room with a wave back, it wasn't long until Tew came back out in the first dress; This one was a bit longer than the other two, but still summery thanks to being off-shoulder and the slits up the sides for the legs.

It was also a bit darker, the purple setting off against Tew's bright skin. She moved in it a bit as if testing its comfort, "Hmm... I almost wonder if this is a bit dark and formal. But I do like it. Cal?"

[Cal Arcton]

Properly, Cal rose to his feet as the lady returned. Of course, with that dress, he would have stood up even if he wasn't a gentleman. "Wow." He said appreciatively, his brown eyes glinting at her. "You look gorgeous. This isn't gonna be easy, I can tell already." His gaze traveled appreciatively up and down her form.

Of course, he wasn't just there to ogle her. "It is a bit on the formal side, isn't it?" He said thoughtfully. "Take it from me, the Noventa Day celebrations are pretty casual. Nice, but not too nice. I plan to wear my best vest, but I'm not gonna go all the way to a suit. Maybe that'll help you judge?"

[Tewzada Star'Ti]

"Yeah, you're kinda echoing my thoughts there. ...I mean, maybe I'll get this for a cocktail party sometime, but I'd hate to overload my luggage and empty my wallet in one go. ...I'll have to think about it. Regardless, not for tonight. Be right back."

Ducking back in, she soon came back out; This time the dress was much more muted in color. But it's silver rhinestones insured it had a bright sheen.

"Well, I wanted to try something less flashy too, but I'm not sure this counts, now that I have it on. Nice and lighter than I thought though."
