Reverie (Day 3 Early Evening Chatt's Grill)

[Yara Suhr]

Yara gives a faint snort of amusement, though her cheeks do color a little. One of the downsides of being a light-skinned Human, that. "You're very deft at that. You should meet my friend Cal; you two could compare notes." She chews another bite of her dinner before adding, "Courier and guard work, hm? I'll keep my ears open. In spite of whatever you may have heard out of Providencetown, there's plenty of legitimate work to go around on this planet."

[Kai Wryssald]

"If he's the owner of the twelve parsecs, then we've met already." Kai offered with a warm smile. "Though I'm a bit surprised he hasnt asked you out if he flirts so much."

Picking up his glass he took a slow sip. "Thanks for that, it's been a little hard thus far, but we make do regardless." If there was no work they'd just move on as well.

[Yara Suhr]

"If that man took out every female sentient he flirted with, he'd have no time left to run his bar," she chuckles. "In any case, I'd be afraid of provoking that cursed hologram of his to jealousy." Yara swirls her water glass for a few moments, watching the light glance off the moving liquid, her expression shading a little less light. "I'd think with the present rumors about Imp remnants in the Noventa system, hunters and guards would have no trouble finding work."

"Wait... Are you telling me he is dating a hologram?" Kai asked eyebrow raised in curiosity. There were likely stranger things in the galaxy, but still. "Good to know he does actually run his bar though. He seemed to like talking to the customers most of all." There was a smile on his lips as he said the latter, apparently he was joking at least a little.

"But yeah, you'd think so. But thus far we haven't found anyone that would actually put up credits to look into that. And we cant really afford to work for free."

[Yara Suhr]

"No... it's complicated. If you haven't seen the hologram, I'm not sure I can explain it." She shakes her head. "Some kind of strange rogue entertainment program, which he's stuck with, because apparently nobody over there has worked out how to debug or delete it." Wryly, she adds, "It's only a holo, but somehow I still don't like the thought of getting on its bad side."

"In any event," she lifts her water glass, "here's to better business for you."

"You know it's bad luck to toast with water, Yara." Ksi replied as he raised his glass and touched hers. "Thanks though, we could use it."

Kai shifted as his meal finally arrived, glancing at it for a few moments before looking back towards the doctor. "You're right though, that business with the hologram does sound complicated."

[Yara Suhr]

"Is it?" She arches a brow curiously. "I hadn't heard that one. But I can't really say I believe in luck that way, either."

[Kai Wryssald]

"That way?" He took a sip from his cup. "Kinda curious as to how exactly you believe in luck then. That is if you even do."

She might be one of those odd force believing people. Though he wasn't sure why they called it the force, seems like there could be a bit neater name for it... The force seemed like something a overly confident man might name his penis.

[Yara Suhr]

"I believe in causality." Yara smiles slightly, shaking her head. "Events may happen at random sometimes, but I don't think you can call down bad luck or good luck by saying the right things. Although..." she spears another bit of nerf croquette with a thoughtful expression. "I know a few people who have a more esoteric perspective on the matter, and some of them have been right about enough other things that I do wonder sometimes."

He wasn't quite sure what esoteric meant, maybe it was something doctory? Could you see things in another way if you had three eyes? Her friend could very well be a Gran then.

"I suppose it's hard to tell for sure." Kai replied, cutting into his nerf steak. Protein was good for you. "Honestly, I dont spend too much time worrying about it though. Always seem to be other things that are more important."

[Yara Suhr]

"That is quite true," she agrees, with emphasis. "I sometimes feel as if it's been years since I've had the time to worry about things like religion. And Noventa was supposed to be my retirement." She shakes her head ruefully. "In a sense, at least."

[Kai Wryssald]

"Arent you a little young to be retiring, Doctor?" He asked a hint of teasing in his tone, the tone remained as he continued. "And anyways I thought doctors retired to resort towns where they could work on their tans in between taking care of the drunken injuries of the rich."

"Or are you not a beach and bikini type of lady? Maybe a warm sweater and a cabin in the mountains kind of gal?"

[Yara Suhr]

"I haven't given it much thought," she admits with a chuckle. "How about a flat in the city and a season ticket to the symphony?" Not that Noventa has a symphony. "Retirement is a relative thing. I imagined practicing on Noventa would be rather slow and quiet, after the war. It is a little; but mostly it's just different."

[Kai Wryssald]

"Oh? The type of lady that likes to dress nice and enjoy a evening of wine and music then?" You dressed fancy for things like a symphony after all. At least he thought you did.

"Aye, it seems a bit rough to be exactly quiet, but I suppose it would be different." He paused thoughtfully. "That's why you were on big ships then huh? A doctor on a warship?"

[Yara Suhr]

"More culture than nature, I suppose," she agrees. "Noventa is rather the opposite, of course."

"Mm, yes, I didn't say? I was with the Alliance for the last years of the war. Funny to think I can just say that to anybody, now." Shaking her head bemusedly, she pauses for a sip of water.

[Kai Wryssald]

"I suppose culture is a bot hard to find out here." HE offered with a soft chuckle, just look where they were eating after all. "I would guess you cut quite the figure in a nice dress, and all that culture likely means you like dancing too?" His eyebrow raised questioningly. "Or have I got that part wrong?"

"Admitting that would of gotten you into all manner of trouble a couple years ago." He agreed with a nod. "But no, you didn't mention it, and I don't think I would of guess. You're a bit too pretty for what I think of when I hear of a war time doctor. When you said big ship, I was thinking more along the lien of a luxury transport." There was a thoughtful pause. "Not that war chem doctor's can't be pretty, I just always imagine them more grizzled?" They were almost always grizzled on Imperial vessels.

[Yara Suhr]

"I've been known to dance," she says, amused at this turn. "Occasionally. When I've the time." She pushes a few bits of vegetable around on her plate with her utensil without actually picking anything up. "Old doctors have to come from somewhere. Generally from young doctors. After passing through the middle stage you see before you." The corner of her mouth quirks dryly for a moment. "Plenty of us were young, the rest very grizzled indeed." Her face gradually settles into more sober lines. "It was a young being's game, you see, because once you got in it you had to either have nothing or be prepared to lose everything. Not many middle-aged physicians can leave their families and good positions--on comfortable luxury liners, say--to run around the rag ends of the galaxy with a lot of traitors."

[Kai Wryssald]

"So not as much as you'd like then." Kai replied flashing a grin, his eyes drifting to his she pushed the veggies around on the plate.

Bringing his drink to his lips he shrugged. "I dunno, I'm still thinking there is a planet out there just full of old doctors " The glass was placed on the table, as he picked up his utensils. "I dont think you've hit that middle stage yet either. You cant be much past twenty four or twenty five." At the very least she didnt seem as old as Jelna.

"I suppose that makes sense, though. The part about the young and the old. Truth be told I never really knew much about the folks in the alliance though."

[Yara Suhr]

She almost snorts into her water glass. "You were raised properly, I can tell, but round up." Chuckling, she sets the glass down

"Even with the war on most people had lives to live and jobs to do, I suppose. Particularly out here on the Rim, in the places where the Empire's reins were a little looser."

[Kai Wryssald]

"I dont know about that, but I do brew with several young ladies, and I can be a fast learner. Well, coot for when it comes to dancing." He smiled. "Still you might be a bit older then I said, but ya dont really look or act like it. So, that's something right?"

"True enough, as a boy from Dantooine, I know at least a little about that."
