Yara nods. "All right. I'll step out while you get changed into a gown, and then we can get started..."

"Thanks. In that case, let's do whatever you think is best."

"Hm." She has a point about the lightsaber thing, with the Imps on the planet. "Well, we'll lock up, and Raine, Temra, and I will be upstairs. You ought to be as safe as you would be at Cal's place, if anyone thinks to look for you here."

"Oh, it's nothing. Probably. There's just... the possibility of people who don't like me very much coming around. You know, maybe because of the lightsaber."

Or other things.

"Secure?" Yara cocks her head slightly, giving Quinn a quizzical sort of look. "We have advanced locking systems on the doors and windows. Some of our medical equipment would be quite expensive to replace, after all. And Raine--well, I'm not sure if you've met Raine, but she's a veteran of the late war--Raine spends a good deal of time on security, for the same reason."

Well, and also because Raine, like all of them, wasn't quite out of the habit of living like there's a war on. Yara can relate; it just comes out in different ways for her, that's all.

"We aren't going to withstand armed assault or anything of that sort, but our records and equipment are certainly safe from casual thieves... why do you ask?"

"Okay, that's fine..."

She looked about.

"...how secure is this place?"

Yara nods. "All right." She gives Quinn what she hopes is a nice, reassuring smile. Bedside manner has never been her strongest suit, but she tries.

"What I'm going to do tonight is remove the damaged tissue, and then graft the connector joint for your new arm to your muscles and nerves. You shouldn't need any time in a bacta tank--I'll use a topical bacta wrap at the amputation site instead. But I'd still like you to stay overnight for observation and recovery." Yara glances at Quinn to make sure she appears to be onboard so far. "I'd prefer to give you a general anesthetic for the procedure, though if you have a very strong objection to that for any reason, it is possible to use a localized nerve blocker instead."

She thought about it for a few more moments, then nodded. "Let's do it."

Seeing Quinn respond with some actual enthusiasm reassures Yara. Body dysphoria is always a risk with non-natural-appearing cybernetics, but not flinching at the sight of the holoimage is a good sign.

"That depends on what use you put it to, really. For someone of your size and weight, it might increase your 'muscular' strength with that arm by as much as fifty percent. It is internally powered, so you won't get tired as quickly when using it, either." With another touch of the datapad, she zooms in to focus the holoimage on a lightweight power cell near the 'top' of the arm. "And of course, it's somewhat more resistant to heat, cold, impact, and so on than an organic limb, or a less powerful prosthetic one."

She looked at the datapad.

I mean, a basic arm that looked real was nice and all, a bit of a consolation prize for losing the real one...

...but a badass super-arm? That was like a fantasy come to life.

"So... how much better than a normal one is it?"

"This place is remote, but not that remote." Lips quirking, Yara takes her datapad--until now tucked under her elbow--out again and opens an inventory file with rapid flicks of her fingers. "We keep a few available, on consignment from the manufacturers since they're so costly. Manual labor is a major part of the planetary economy, so it's usually miners and farmers who want them, but... ah. It looks like we do have one top-level model that would fit you. It wouldn't be nearly as natural-looking as a basic prosthesis, though--with the augmented servos and reinforced structure, there's no room for a synthskin layer."

She sets the datapad flat on the counter and gives it one more tap, whereupon it begins projecting a small three-dimensional rendering of a disembodied metal arm, slowly rotating in the air--it looks like a manufacturer's stock holoimage.

"It's your decision, of course. The procedure is essentially the same for both, although I might site the connection a little higher if you choose the augmented model." Yara watches Quinn's face, trying to be at least a bit subtle about gauging the girl's reaction. "It is also very possible to change models later on, with a relatively simple follow-up procedure."

"R-really?" She perked up. "But how? I mean, can you even *get* those here? On Noventa?"

There follow a few beats of silence from Yara, which Quinn might interpret any number of ways. At length, the doctor arches her eyebrows at this unlikely girl: teenage runaway(?), Jedi, unexpectedly deep-pocketed. "You're a surprising person, Quinn." She rubs her temple. "With ten thousand, you really could cover a top-of-the-line augmented model, if you wanted."

"I heard these prosthetics were expensive. I... I only have a little over ten thousand. Is that enough to cover it?"

"I know I am," Yara admits, shaking her head slightly as she taps at the control panel for the exam room door. "A healthy caution, at least. A snake with its head cut off can still bite." The door slides open, and she steps inside, gesturing for Quinn to follow. "By the way, I know you're on your own on Noventa... It's best not to delay the procedure, but if you're very worried about the cost, Cal and I may be able to work something out over time."

It could mean being out of pocket on the consignment costs to her supplier for a while, but this wouldn't be the first time.

"Right..." she said, going through the most basic motions of being part of the conversation as she followed along. "...I'm sure they're all scared."

"I understand." Yara nods, sympathy in her eyes--although she's never quite succeeded at finding the magic words to get the emotion across accurately, without sounding patronizing, and so as usual falls back on professionalism. "Exam room two is scrubbed up for you. I left it in case you made it in today... didn't need it in any case, we've had rather fewer patients than usual the past couple of days. Can't blame people for staying home, really." She leads the way down the hall, looking back over her shoulder at Quinn.

"No... no I think, I'd rather get it over with first... Or I might try to back out."

"We don't stock anything that isn't lifelike and fully functional," Yara reassures her. "People sometimes opt for prostheses that are stronger than the original limb, and that can be quite costly--it takes high power output and very careful design to get that effect without over-stressing the living tissue. But I promise, we'll set you up with something that will work just as well as your hand did before, once you're used to it."

She picks up another datapad from behind a counter and glances at it quickly before tucking it under her arm. "Would you like to see your prosthesis before we begin? I've found that some people want to look it over first, and others prefer not to."
