I think what you said made a ton of sense. However, consider this, what if you added a little information? I am not saying your information isn't good., however what if you added a headline to maybe get folk's attention? I mean %BLOG_TITLE% is kinda plain. You might glance at Yahoo's home page and note how they create post titles to grab viewers to open the links. You might try adding a video or a pic or two to grab people excited about what you've written. In my opinion, it might bring your website a little livelier.
