Noventa - A Star Wars Story

Fey stopped herself from retorting, knowing it would just end in a shouting match at this point. Don't talk to me like I'm a child! Still, her irritation was palpable, especially to one as in tune with others' senses like Jelna.

"You're welcome," she murmured before turning away to pack together the tools. Lena would be upset if they weren't put back in their place.

"You're not listening to me," Jelna snapped. She stomped up to her pistol and slid it into her holster. "If somethin' happens to ya, then it's not my fault! I warned ya what would happen, Cefey." She headed back towards her room but ended up stopping in her tracks. She looked back, expression softer. "Thanks for the tune up, Honey."

"The Empire is dying. They can't stomp out this Force thing, no matter how hard they try. If it is this thing linking all life together, wouldn't that be like trying to snuff out all the light in the Galaxy?" Fey sighed. "This Force stuff was there before the Empire, and it will there after them too."

Her hands tightened with determination. "Choosing to be ignorant about this is a mistake, I think. If I can find someone who can explain it to me, make me understand more about it, then I will."

"It should is what I'm sayin'." Jelna shook her head. "I deleted what I saw of some of their 'experiments' as soon as I saw them. Had to, both for my own sake and cause I wasn't supposed to see that sort of stuff. You saw a lot of those things on Jedha, though."

"I've heard stories," Fey said calmly, turning around to face Jelna fully and propping her elbows on the workbench as she adopted a casual pose. "Do you think that will scare me?"

Jelna crossed her arms, her pleasant demeanor gone. She made no effort to check out the pistol at the moment. "Do ya what the Empire did to anyone they knew followed the 'Force' or whatever? We already know there are infiltrators on this planet."

Her lips pressed together in pause.

She just couldn't agree with that. There had to be people who knew about this who weren't in league with the Imperial remnants.

"I think we'll disagree on that..." Fey murmured, adding a finishing touch to the job. "Here. Give it a try."

"No, no, don't go to any doctors. We can't be lettin' people know about this." Jelna gave a meek smile. "Seriously, I don't think anyone who knows what's goin' on are the sort we want to get associated with."

Fey giggled warmly. "I love your hair, but you're not my type, Babe," she teased back with a playful swish of her lekku. "But maybe Sweetie felt the same thing too."

Though she knew Zerra had felt more than just that - those two had seemed so close to her.

"Maybe I'm just touched in the head about this whole thing and should see a doctor."

"If ya say so. I can't say I really felt that myself." Jelna had never gotten into the habit of doing so, which now struck her as odd. All that awareness and the possibility had not really occurred to her.

She then smirked and shook her head. "Zerra said the same thing 'bout meetin' me. Hope you ain't fallin' for me, Cefey."

The twi'lek made a hmm-sound as she thought about it. "I don't know... what if it's true? It certainly feels that way sometimes. Like when I first met you, you felt... different than the others."

"It's as good a theory as any, but I don't like it." Jelna crossed her arms and looked downward. "All these rumors about this 'Force' don't inspire much confidence in me. Somethin' that connects all of us? Sounds like some idealistic thinkin' to me."

Well that certainly piqued her curiosity, since those two had seemed so inseperable as if they had always been together.

"The Force..." she murmured thoughtfully. "I've heard about it. Caught a few snippets here and there. Do you think it has anything to do with all this?" Fey gestured to the air around them with a hydrospanner. "These feelings, these odd sensations."

Jelna gave a soft smile. "Zerra, bless her heart, was not the first woman I loved. There was one before her." She shut her eyes and shook her head. "Nevermind. That is not my point. On Jedha, besides Saw Gerrera, there were pilgrims who said it was a site for the 'Force.' It sounded like rubbish to me, but sometimes I had a strange feeling come over me."

"Some rebel-leader, no?" Fey looked over to her friend from her work. "... I was never really brief on this sort of stuff. Just picking up from what I overheard from the Moff, or from others. But he was a pretty hard target from what I recall hearing?"

"Jedha shaped me as a woman," she remarked in her old Imperial accent. Jelna wondered if she should grab the bottle of brandy for this conversation. For now, she resisted the temptation. "Do you know the name 'Saw Gerrera?'"

"Me neither. In fact, it's the first time I'm sharing this..." she bit her lip nervously.

"I'm not familiar with Jedha."

"I have no idea. This isn't somethin' I talked about at length." Jelna paced around for a bit before looking back to Cefey. "Maybe a bit back on Jedha, actually."

The twi'lek couldn't say she could relate to that feeling, but she understood what Jelna was saying.

And she was starting to have some theories. "... Why do you think that is?"

"Smell it, huh? I've always just relied on body language myself." At least, that was the way Jelna understood her abilities.

The blonde closed her eyes and sighed. "When Zerra and I were tossin' in the hay, I had a similar sort of thing where my body felt the emotion there. Never thought I'd feel a sickening chill in the same way."
