Jelna placed her plate by the sink and collapsed on the sofa in the lounge. There was this feeling of dread that had come over her, and this feeling led her to thoughts about Zerra. Everything always came back to Zerra. And for a moment, she considered trying to shut her out of her mind.
But the blonde failed. She activated the cybernetic implant in her brain and searched through the archive in her mind with calm precision. She reminded herself that all she needed to do was to stay steady and her love would be back with her in at least some fashion.

The deceased redhead showed up in her vision with a smile of someone who never knew she could die young. "Everything will be fine, Babe," the recorded ghost said nonchalantly. She was busy sipping her caf.
"You do not know that," the past Jelna hissed. In the present day, she felt horrible for being so moody. But at the time, she had felt like Zerra treated it too casually.
"Our circumstances may be dire but much of it is perspective, Babe." Zerra's recording set down the cup and came over to hold hands. "As long as I have you, then I have something to be thankful for."
Jelna held out her hands to seemingly nothing from an outsider perspective. The callouses that were still imprinted in her mind were, of course, rough to touch but they spoke of the dead woman's character, or what had been of it. If there was some way, then she would never let go of those hands.
