"Their offer couldn't be more timely. There is a lot that may go wrong with the surface sometime soon."

Farkas finally poured himself a drink, now that all the talking with strangers was over. He wasn't a fan of dulling his senses during negotiations. Or dulling them too much really. So he just sipped it. "Well, we didn't make enemies of them. That's good."

Zygy finished hers. "That went well enough."

"I prefer entrepreneurs to politicians." Sharn commented, finishing his drink.

Dean raised his glass. "Wonderful! I see this as leading to a beautiful, and profitable, friendship." His smile was beaming, a physical trace of evidence as to why the Lyran's sent him. He had a way with words, and a natural charisma that just seemed to exude from every movement of his lips.

"You will have to come see the operation itself. While the Venator, as you pointed out, can't operate as a ship, it's a wonderful slice of life. No where near the splendor of The Wheel, but it's home." He drank from his glass, and set it down. "Now, feel free to enjoy the bottle, it's already paid for. I have to report this success to my Captain, and make sure word is spread amongst our associates that your Wayfarer is to be left alone. After all, we don't want any deterioration of our new friendship." Standing from the chair, he grabbed his coat, and tossed it over his shoulders.

Looking at the three, he nodded. "I'm sure I will be seeing you all very soon." And he took his leave.

Farkas nods. "More time for me to focus on our work in that case," he says to his partners.

She nodded. "There's still a lot of potential. We can agree to those terms."

"This is not optimal, but acceptable."

"No dice." He shook his head, before offering a grin. Whether it was her charming personality, or Zeltron pheromones, he at least did seem in a good mood. "Tell you what, for that 20%, we will give you access to our debris charts. Won't make things any safer, but should make finding profitable scores easier." He pulled a datapad from his jacket, sliding it across the table. (Using the Zeltron benefit to grant this).

"Do we have a deal?"

For accepting this deal; the crew of the Strange Charm get a free upgrade and a boost die to scanning the debris field for salvage. They also gain access to the Lyran facilities and factory ship. They will lose 20% of the profits from Salvaging.

"The goal is collaboration." Syzygy nodded. She offered the pirate a friendly smile. "This factory ship of yours will benefit both groups, especially once we begin modifying and updating it. We'll be able to experiment with our builds and assist you with repairs to your fleet at reduced costs. But, all of that will require revenue, which comes through our salvage operations. Any reduction in those profits will make everything else more difficult to achieve. I understand and appreciate that you expect a cut, but 20% could be problematic. We'd be able to manage 10% with a minimal disruption of efficiency, though. That would still not be ideal, but we'd be able to devote more time to the ship and to assisting you as my colleague has suggested."

"Additionally." she leaned in. "If you can provide us with maps of the debris field, we'll be able to access better salvage and your profits from it will increase, regardless of your cut."

Ooc: when it comes up, the negotiation pool is resisted by Dean's Presence 3, Negotiation 4.

"That's almost fair. But we can probably offer things that will benefit both sides and potentially make the deal better for both parties. I assume your pilot informed you of what went down during the battle and we can provide a recording of it to straighten out anything they may have embellished. But suffice to say that if we can come to better terms overall, part of those terms could be my assistance with computer and electronic warfare. I'd be willing to devote time to that daily to help in protecting your people and investments."

OOC: Attempting to assist with any Negotiation roll made by a primary actor later in the scene.

"Look. We have a factory ship. We live in a debris field that keeps us hidden and lets us have a bit of freedom. It doesn't make sense to raid a stationary factory, expose ourselves to reprisal, for a few TIEs we won't want to risk pilots in." Dean stretched back, his hands going behind his back.

"Here's the deal we're offering. Twenty percent of your salvage profits, access to our ship and facilities for repairs, and the ability to program the factory ship to build what you want to design, versus something laid out for fragile little eyeballs."

"I unsealed the impossible seal to look inside and assess the matter personally. But I register your disbelief in your capability to assert those assets." He mused.
"I am currently disinclined to aid the planetary government in anything but it would be interesting to learn who tampered with the relays."

"What proof do you have that it's lightly defended, or has operable fighter craft inside?" He asked. "Do you have schematics, visual confirmation? Proof? Or is this all just bluster. And let me reiterate, we aren't in such great shape up here, either. Scraping by from what we take." He didn't seem annoyed, more just closed off.

"And no, that wasn't us. Something's tripping our sensors as well."

"i am speaking about a lightly defended treasure trove with operable or almost operable fighter craft and a lot of engineering equipment." Sharn mused. "And the whole surface is going to be very distracted soon enough. By the way, the inactive orbital relay antennas is your work?"

Dean stared blankly at Sharn. "If we had the manpower to do surface raids, don't you think we'd take it. We're pirates. We take easy pickings because it also means less firepower brought on us." Slowly, the glass was set down. "Striking at the surface brings a lot of heat our way, and we rather enjoy being hidden in the debris field."

"Margins can be assessed only if they are quantified." Sharn mused. "By your side of the equation in this partnership sounds awfully passive for men of action. We work, you sit back - does it not grate on you as a free entrepreneur? Now that I know what you want, I'll ask you: to get it, do you have what it takes to conduct a... surface acquisition strike?"

"Exactly, and people of action are just what we need. With the drive and the vision, to seize opportunity when it comes!" Dean was all smiles as he spoke, watching the interplay between the others.

"Obviously, we wouldn't just be giving you free reign of a factory ship. That's not good business. But as my paw always said, good business, is where you make it." Dean picked up his glass, drinking deeply again. "We'd be entering a kind of... partnership. We leave you alone, as you salvage, and let you use the factory ship. In exchange, you give us a few designs, share a bit of the salvage to help shore up our coffers. How's that sound?"

"Don't exaggerate, Farkas. A bit of rough-housing may be a good way to start a relationship. Resentment is not a currency to finance our dreams. At least our new Lyran friends know after this that we're people of action." He grinned at the pirate with his sharp teeth. Sharn rarely grinned, and practically never in mirth. "And that our forethought has again proved superior."
