Podracing Rules

Every Day on Noventa, during the Early Evening, there is a race at the Charnel Gulch Podraceway. Modified from the classic circuit, in order to not allow any unfair advantages to those who would race in the main event, it is a short, three lap race that still tests the pilots skill and lack of self-preservation.

Finding a Podracing Vehicle:

If one wants to race, they must provide their own Podracer. If they do not have one, then they can court a sponsor to borrow one, for a cut of the earnings (the sponsor will take 30% of the winnings). Finding a sponsor is a Streetwise or Knowledge (Underworld) check, at average difficulty.

Success means you have found a sponsor, and they provide a racer with the following stats:

Standard Podracer wrote:Silhouette 3 | Speed 4 | Handling -1 | Armor 0 | Def 0/-/-/0 | Hull Trauma 4 | System Strain 4

For every two threats on this check, the Sponsor negotiates more earnings to be given to them, increasing their take by 5%.

Advantages on this check increase the quality of the vehicle, the podracer they provide is better than what most would provide.
1 Advantage - Increase System Strain or Hull Trauma by 1 (this may be taken multiple times)
2 Advantages - Handling is increased by 1 (this may be taken up to three times)
3 Advantages - Speed is increased by 1 (this may be taken multiple times)/The Podracer has an ejection seat (this may only be taken once)

A Triumph on this check will be resolved narratively after the race through RP. Please ping me.

A Despair will be resolved narratively after the race through RP. Please ping me.

The Race itself:

For the sake of brevity, each lap will be handled by one Piloting (Planetary) skill check at Simple (-) difficulty. The winner of the race will be determined by who has the most successes at the end of the race. Per lap, each driver will have One Pilot-Only Maneuver, and One Action (which is the Piloting check).

In the Daily Broadcast, there will be NPC racers listed with their total number of successes, as well as the Speed with which they raced.

The speed value of the racer will be added to the final total of successes.

Threats will be spent as follows:
1 Threat - The Vehicle suffers 1 System Strain (this can be selected multiple times)
2 Threat - A setback die is added to the following piloting check (this can be selected multiple times)
3 Threat - A Challenge (Red) die is added to the following piloting check (this can be selected multiple times)

Priority is given from highest number of threat to lower (i.e. 3 threat will always generate the challenge die, not three system strain).

Despair will be spent as follows:
The vehicle suffers a collosion (either with another driver or terrain). The podracer suffers a critical hit, and takes 2 hull trauma.

Winnings:
Placing in the top 3 brings credits to those who raced.

1st Place - 500 Credits
2nd Place - 300 Credits
3rd Place - 150 Credits
