Noventa - A Star Wars Story

"Ughhhh..." Cal groaned, sinking back in his seat, although he was clearly smiling. "Mercy. I call mercy." He grinned up at her. "I can't take much more. I was shot today, you know. More'n once, too."

He pushed himself up a little. "Yeah? That's it? Not at all how I pictured it." He smirked at her, letting her wonder about just how he pictured it. "But overthrow the men..." He raised one eyebrow. "You can't tell me that Kai's the one in charge." All three of the ladies seemed to have strong personalities.

"Uh huh... sure," she grinned, "I saw those quick and agile moves earlier today." A low blow, but she wasn't one to hold her punches now. Which was a sure sign of taking a liking to this person, as for her it meant she wasn't putting on airs or merely stroking his ego.

"As for what we get up to..." Fey gave a contemplative glance to her manicure, "talk about sweethearts, dress up, and plot to overthrow the men."

Cal's eyebrows went up. "Hey, don't underestimate me. I'm quick. And wily." His eyebrows went up a little more. "And flexible. Besides, it's not about winning or losing, it's about having good man-time, right?"

He cleared his throat. "Uhhh... so what are you ladies going to do when us menfolk are off doing our thing?"

Her reaction went from a smirk to a wide grin. "Ooo~ is that so...? Hmm... you'd have to get used to being pinned then, against such big guys," the grin became even more mischevious. Fey was certainly no blushing innocent.

That got a laugh from Cal. "Oh, sure, if the mood strikes us." Reflexively, he started to take a sip of his bourbon, remembered it was empty, set it aside.

He shrugged. "But we mostly do sorta what you and I are doing know. Get together. Have a few drinks. Maybe watch a holoprogram, huttball or somethin'. Maybe a bit more active. Shooting or hiking."

His eyes glinted, and his lips twitched. "Or, if we're feeling a bit more frisky, maybe we do a bit of wraslin'. Of course, to do that proper, it's best to be stripped to the waist and oiled up, so we'd have to do that first..." He nodded seriously, even as his eyes continued to glint, watching her reaction.

"Hah, that would've been something. Three generations working out together," she chuckled at the idea. "But sure, I'll send him over someday soon - take advantage of being planetside and all to get him some socialising. As much as I'd love to watch it though, I think it would be better not to." It would ruin the point of Kai socialising with other guys instead of three women.

Didn't mean she wouldn't try spying on it from afar.

"What manly things to manly men do anyway? Break boulders or something?"

Cal found himself grinning at Fey's laughter. Flirty as it was, it also sounded like she was having a good time.

"No, I'm not nearly as old as Korvalus. Although he keeps himself in good shape. I'd say I'm just bit older than your Kai." He said, somewhat optimistically. "So it's not quite like three generations all workin' out together."

He smirked. "But I see how it is. That somethin' you like to see, all those men doing manly things together? I guess if I encountered you, Lena, and Jelna..." Cal found his mind wandering again; after a few moments, he shook his head with a grin. "But sure, send Kai by sometime. If he needs some man-time, we'd be happy to oblige."

Her laughter was bubbly and bright, yet managed to have a sort of sensual undertone to it. Like she knew just how to add in a splash of naughtiness to an otherwise innocent angle.

"Well, I don't know how old you are, and well, you're not as old as Korvalus. He seems to stay in pretty good shape though," she mused. "Maybe you two and Darling should get together some - work out and do... whatever manly things that guys do when us ladies aren't around." The suggestion came with a straight face. "I think it could be good for Kai too to spend some time with men now that we're planetside. We girls probably drive him a little crazy sometimes on the ship."

"Hmmm... mysterious as well as pretty, then." Cal smirked. "That's quite the potent combination."

Cal watched, a smile on his lips, as Fey studied, one eyebrow going up a little bit. In truth, he knew he was handsome, with strong jawline and even cheekbones. The stubble actually added a certain amount of rugged appeal. "Aw, shucks." He murmured, lips curling up further, as she complimented him.

Then she dropped the second half of it. The smile remained, but dismay quickly flickered across his features. "Oof. You really don't pull your punches, do you?" He said, shaking his head with a grin. "I'm not that old, not really..." Well, he hoped not, anyway.

"That will be my secret for a bit longer," she chuckled, putting her now empty glass aside as she gave Cal a wink. "But happy to know you think I'm a pretty lady, monsieur."

Her posture shifted a little, and her eyes were obviously studying him a bit more closely now. "You're not bad looking either..." the words lingered in the air for a little while as her lips quirked in a teasing smirk, "for someone your age."

"Alright, then." Cal nodded. "Another time. No rush." Perhaps that meant it was getting to be time to put the bottle away. He didn't just yet, though.

He shrugged. "Don't think it's really either. Just another part of who I am and what I do, like drinking bourbon. And I won't deny that I've got an eye for pretty ladies."

He hesitated a moment, giving Fey a glance through narrowed eyes. "I sorta figured it might be one or both of those for you. Wasn't quite sure what to make of it."

"Hmm..." Fey drained her glass at that. "I don't think the Doctor would want you to keep up with me tonight. Maybe another time, we'll exchange shots and questions, oui?" she chuckled.

"As for your flirting, maybe I'm so used to doing it myself, I do not take offense to you doing it. But is it a weapon or defense for you, I wonder...?"

Cal shrugged. "Don't know if it's rough. It's just how it is." Still, something about the simple phrase lifted his spirits, just a little.

"Don't rightly know." He shrugged again. "Probably a little of both. You may have noticed-" he flashed her a quick smirk, "-that I have a tendency to flirt a bit. But there's a difference between flirting and really trying." Something she no doubt knew already. "Then I guess I'd have to find the right person to really try with, and, well, that's not something that just happens every day, is it?"

He glanced up, giving her another smirk. "But now, you've presented me with a dilemma. I'm not sure whether I should turn the question around now, or just save 'em all up for the next time we share a drink."

"I don't hold my punches and I aim for the big targets," she grinned back at him but let him contemplate the question properly.

"Mm," Fey sighed a little. "That's rough, buddy. I would've thought someone like you who had settled down, so to speak, had a sweetheart. Lack of trying, or lack of interest?"

That made Cal's eyebrows go up. "Going right for it, huh? I guess I pretty much told you not to pull your punches." The words were clearly in good-humor, made moreso by his casual smile. "I can think of a few people who I'd call special, but I'm guessin' not in the way you mean."

He considered the question, lines creasing his forehead, the smile fading. Idly, he turned his now-empty glass in his hand. There was Runi, but it seemed that despite the spark, there had been no rekindling. Besides that, there weren't really any women constant in his life. Well, except Quinn. And Yara. But those were different.

Slowly, he shook his head. "Haven't had the chance. Life as a marshal doesn't allow much time for that sort of thing. You'd think a bar might change that, but..." He shrugged, still frowning thoughtfully. "Just seems like most people pass through. Don't stick around."

"I shall have to think of some questions then... hmm..." her nails tapped against the table in thought. Once they had been neat and manicured, and while she still cared for them, they had a bit more of a roughness to them now after a year of work.

"Do you have someone special to you?"

Cal mostly kept his eyes on hers. After all, he was a proper gentleman, and there was only so long one could stare at a friend's cleavage and still have that label apply. Still, drawing an appreciative breath, Cal made the most of that time.

His eyes came back up. "Maybe." He said, smiling. "Or maybe it's just that no one knows the right question to ask."

"Oh really?" Fey leaned forward. Resting her arms on the table between them, she fixed him with a curious look. "No man has no secrets. Maybe you're just good at hiding them?"

Cal shrugged, still smiling. "Sure. Or just share some more bourbon. Whatever you like." His lips quirked. "I should probably stop, or Doc'll have stern words for me when I get there."

The question made Cal frown, his brow creasing. "I'm not really sure I do." He finally said. "Sometimes I hold onto other people's secrets for them, but I can't think of anything right off that I'd have a problem with telling someone that asked me." The frown deepened. Maybe that meant he just wasn't digging deep enough.

Her lips pressed together nervously before she gave a cautious nod.

"... Thank you. I... maybe I'll share some more over bourbon another time. Sorry," Fey's mouth twitched in an apologetic smile. "Likewise, let me know if I pry too much when I ask you these questions, ok? You probably have things you don't want to share easily, right?"
